Exactly. Folks on all sides gave as good as they got. But they still used JimRob's bandwidth. So I can understand people being angry at other posters, but I don't understand how that translates into being angry at FR or JimRob.

I'm sure he and the other moderators did their best. But they can't police every thread all the time, so mud is always going to get flinged, especially on a subject that affects so many people in such an emotional way. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to try and keep all those threads civil.

We can always decide that we're not going to converse with certain posters. I think everyone here knows of a few screen names they intentionally avoid. But that's between the individuals and not between a poster and FR. And if everyone decides to penalize JimRob financially for the actions of others, then one day we may try to log on and find that FR is no longer here.

Once again, y'all are free to tell me that I'm being naive if you so wish.

Jim encouraged it.

It was not the same kind of flame throwing on all sides.

It has obviously affected this site in disastrous multi-faceted ways and many are in complete denial about that fact, forever perhaps.

BUMP.

I'm getting tired of people complaining.
If this place ain't good enough for you, then leave, and spare me the details of your vanity.
How do you people get along in the world if you can't deal with a little dust-up on an internet forum?
Roll up your sleeves and help set this place aright if you think it needs fixing, otherwise go navel-gaze somewhere else.

I have no intention of discontinuing my monthly contribution - but I was definitely not happy about the number of threads about the Shiavo case. I know for a fact it was suggested to Jim and the Mods to create a seperate section (like the smokey backroom or chat) just for it and the suggestion was ignored.

Pope John Paul II was a head of state, a world leader - and his illness and death got far less attention here than did the situation in Florida.

I now stick with the issues that interest me, and my few regular "chat" threads.....

Hey AQ- I agree with you. There were nasty folks on both sides.
