If this wasn't true, Carter would say something. He's not shy.

Mitchell acknowledged that, after all, the Vatican is a state, and as the chief diplomatic official it was logical for Condi to attend. Nevertheless, Andrea opined that Rice should have ceded her seat to Mr. Peanut.

Carter is an EX-President. Condi is the CURRENT Secretary of State. 'Nuff said.

I remember living in NYC when John Paul became the Pope. We were in a children's hospital visiting the son of one of our church members.
