The vote is not reflective of the typical Kansan, said Steve Brown of Prairie Village, a member of Kansans for Fairness, a group that worked to defeat the amendment.
I was just going to make a similar comment about this persons remarks.
Glad you beat me to it.
The extreme liberal left just does not get it.
They keep trying to sell their liberal brand of perversion and the public just isn't buying.
I think the results show that most Kansans are already fed up with activists judges, abortion monsters and deterioration of traditional values.

Hmmm... THAT is why they won't stop shrieking!
In all seriousness though, I'm allergic to birds, but I love watching the cardinals, chickadees and finches at my backyard feeder.

We need to do a KC area Freeper get together. If anyone is interested I might try to arrange it.
I know a great coffee house that is populated by conservatives (and a token liberal, but he's a pretty good guy)

How can a constitutional amendment be overturned by judges???Are you joking? They're judges, man - - they rule everything.
To: srm913
How about April 30th (Saturday). A little coffee house called Coffee Bay in Lenexa. If we get enough people we can expand to lunch and have pizza at the connected pizzaria.

Oh, BTW everyone, if the KC Star won't grant you access without registering, you can bypass it by going to www.bugmenot.com.
A real treasure, that site.

And that is exactly what the liberals/gays don't want, they want to keep this in the hands of the tyrannical judges.

One thing that makes little sense in the topic heading: "Red State America". Marriage amendments, if sent to the voters, will pass in every state, and most of the Western World (only one jurisdiction in North America - the province of Quebec - shows a majority in support of gay marriage)
To: JosephW
It's a date.
I'll let other KC area Freepers know when I run into them.

209 out of 210 reporting in. Looks like 207 have said YES!
Douglas just reported in and like the commie county they are, they voted it down (looks like the only place in the state). They appear as a little red island in a sea of blue on the KS-SOS site.
Still waiting for that last precinct in Logan.

Okay thanks, that would be 19 states then that have marriage defined in the constitution.
I think, by 2010 at the latest, all 50 states will have it defined.

Coffee Bay is only open till 11 or noon, then Stonewall Pizza opens. It's an easy migration through the ajoining doors.
Great coffee place, and from everything I hear the pizza is great.

How long do you think it will take for Judical Tyranny to overturn the will of the people?

Unfortunately, the only way out is a United Nations-defined standard saying marriage is globally defined as one man and one woman. Even the Federal Marriage Amendment will not stop gay couples from coming up to Canada (where, BTW, polls show marriage amendments, if put on ballots, would pass in most of the provinces) and returning to the US
To: Heartofsong83
You mean ?
How can a constitutional amendment be declared " UN constitutional ? and be overturned by a judge ?
Well, for the things that we have seen, and from recent history, it's because, " They can " or at least, that is what they think they can get away with, going against the will of the voters.
