WASHINGTON - Break out the croquet set and set up the barbecue. Daylight-saving time was making its return this weekend.
That meant pushing the clocks ahead spring forward to gain an hour of light in the evening for warm summer recreation. The official change was at 2 a.m. Sunday, local time.
It's also a good time to replace batteries in smoke alarms, safety advocates urge.
Daylight-saving time ends the last Sunday in October.
Some parts of the country don't observe daylight-saving time. These include Arizona, Hawaii, the part of Indiana in the Eastern time zone, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa.

This is a concept that has outlived its time.
Get out! When did this start?! Why wasn't I informed?!
I have no trouble changing the clocks in the house. How do I change the "clocks" in my dogs!
I HATE DST!!
Thank God! I hate regular time
Yep. I have always preferred DST; I wish we had it all year.
Finally. Now I can take a walk after work without getting mugged.
And don't forget to put a brick in your toilet tank.
Thank you for the reminder :-)
Just completed the task (with spouse's assistance), during which we realized we have fourteen (14) clocks - counting the microwave, oven, coffee maker....
Now we are resting to begin again in October!
Thank God! I hate regular timeThat hour of daylight does a lot more good at 8am than it does at 5am. >:o

Smoke detectors, CO detectors, diabetics: change your glucose meter's battery; and the batteries in any other gadgets around the house you count on to protect your safety and health.
Oh man, I'm glad you reminded me about the beeber thing....
ROTATE YOUR AMMO
I don't like Day Light Saving Time. Thinking about setting the clock ahead 2 hrs right now, so tomorrow I will get to set it back an hour :-)
They are easier to change than the ones in the kids. Who should have been in bed an hour ago but are still up and will be short tempered all day tomorrow. At least the dogs don't get that emotional over the whole thing.
