"There's a moral lesson the people will need to learn about all this. Sometimes, lessons are learned the hard way."
I think the lesson here is more about separation of church and state. The issue has been misrepresented badly by the ACLU and really meant to ban a state sponsored religion.
In thinking about the repulsion of the general population to Congress's intervention in the Schiavo matter. I wonder if much of it wasn't a reaction to a perceived undue influence of religion into politics.

The courts. The all-mighty courts. The irony.

Maybe some good can come out of this tragedy! I believe that. There had to be a reason for all this.

I appreciate the President stating his opposition to the brutal and barbaric murder of a defenseless invalid Terri Schiavo.
I wish that he had used the Presidential pulpit more to save her.
Now, he needs to focus on stopping Iran from developing nukes, which, if they get them, I am convinced will be used when the Mullah regime is on its way out. Millions of lives hang in the balance on this issue.

I agree.. What happend to Terri was horrible, however, I think something good is going to comeout of this. The only good thing about this case was it exposed in how much power that our courts have.

I am sure the President will:
1. Offer a prayer for the repose of Terri's soul.
2. Declare this day a day of national shame.
3. Declare his intention to make pro-life a litmus test for judgeship.
4. Express regret and contrition for not instructing the Attorney General to send the FBI agents to rescue Terri.
5. Rebuke his brother Jeb whose job description was to send in the Florida National Guard.

Easy. He should have written an order invoking the Fifth Amendment, and delivered her from her tormentors and murderers.
Or even easier, Jeb should have done the same, invoking Article One, Section Two.
They came to the test of their lives and political careers, and sadly failed to pass it.
To: TAdams8591
It was within Jeb's authority to do something. The President did mostly what he could at the federal level. Without a doubt, Jeb could have gone in with the DCF and taken custody of Terri and put the feeding tube back in. What would have happened legally after that is speculation, but she could still be alive and not suffering right now....
IF he understood the Florida State Constitution
IF he understood the division of powers
IF he understood the limits of judicial powers
IF he understood the supremacy of the executive powers the governor holds
IF he understood judicial tyranny.
Alan Keyes has an excellent article on Worldnet about this situation. Jeb utterly failed in the last week.

A Prime Time speech on the death of Terri Schiavo would be the worst possible thing W could do. No one in their right mind would recommend such a thing. It would be utter insanity. Thus I expect to see many demands that it be done.
To: SandyInSeattle
Yes. Maybe Terri's death will help the millions of others that are now on feeding tubes get the justice they deserve! I understand that outside the Hospice alot of the supporters were disabled people in wheelchairs who are scared to death because of what happened to Terri! We must help them now because of what happened to Terri! Terri is a beacon for those disabled people and we must not let the courts forget this tragedy!
