There won't be a president Hillary. And the Republican party isn't any more worth defending than the Democrat party when this is what we get from them. Both need to go.

Gonzales has been in Mexico the last 2 days meeting with Presidente Fox. Alberto Gonzales never thought about saving Terri. His thought will be with saving his country men next week from American taxpaying citizens.

Gonzales is a natural born American Citizen, so your statement makes no sense.

Gonzales was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Houston. He is a graduate of Texas public schools, Rice University, and Harvard Law School. Gonzales served in the United States Air Force

Have you worn your country's uniform? Gonzales has and I have, the same one and at the same time as Gonzales, although mine had bars on shoulders and/or collar while his had stripes on the sleeve.

Dear Mr. President,

While I am disapointed and saddened by you not using the full resource's of your office to stop the killing of this young woman....I understand that maybe you felt it was in the best interests of the Nation to just stay within the narrow boundries of the law.

Time will tell...but a lot of us think that you were wrong.

You have heard from many people who think that the 'quality of life' is the important thing.

But using that phrase is just a cop-out. Maybe to underscore the cowardice of some people who believe that unless everything is perfect....you need to die. Maybe it's just one way for some people to state their utter disdain for the handicapped...the infirm...the one's who are a 'burden to society'.

I don't know what the real answer is...but we need to have an honest...frank....brutally frank...discussion of where we are in our society in relation to death.

How SHOULD we treat those who are brain-damaged??? How SHOULD we treat those with handicap's??? How SHOULD we treat life????...and when should we put people to death???

Tough questions....which will have even tougher answers.

Today...a brain-damaged young woman died. Put to death...(let's be honest here...she required NOTHING more than food and water to live. Same as the rest of us. If she was given food and water..she would still be alive now.)..by people who may, or may not, have had her best interests at heart.

Perhaps, and hopefully it will be, you can start this discussion.

Thank You,

redrock

" critical analysis of the reasoning on one side of a debate "

If you think your evaluation of Jeb Bush's legal advisors was a critical analysis, there is little I can say to you.

What you said bears repeating, in bold:

There are natural, eternal human truths whether you believe in God or not. The 10 Commandment are designed to control human nature. When they're removed, their opposites move in to fill the void.

For example, in this case: Thou shall not murder/ Thou shall not give false testimony/ Thou shall not covet they neighbors goods $. If this wisdom were allowed to be understood, the Terri case would have been easily solved in a pro-truth manner. Every case would be truth- oriented. It would be written in the hearts of those involved in the legal system. There are those who would prefer these laws not be known. It destroys their power hungry or self- oriented agenda. The opposite of the 10 Commandments ARE the liberal agenda

The two branches of gov. that are elected by the will of the people, the Executive and Legislative, combined their will as our representatives to direct the Judicial branch to apply some mercy and review this case as de novo, as new, but were summarily dismissed as irrelavant and chastized as overstepping their authority. (What authority the Executive and Legislative have if not the power to write and enact law reflecting the will of the people I don't know!?!)

That direct rejection of the will of the President and Congress (and thus the will of the people) was met with silence. The bully pulpit of the President, which is constrained by no law, was silent. The bully pulpit of Congress, with its hundreds of voices, constrained by no law, and seemingly never at a loss for high minded rhetoric about everything else, was silent.

The Judiciary has whipped the President, the Congress and the people into silence. They have made clear that they will brook no contradiction through Constitutional process or moral principle.

Mark is a priest of the Judicial system -- he only has part of the solution. He can't think outside of the box, however. He's a lawyer after all..

It seems to me that the argument seems to be either:

(1) The Bush brothers did not do enough and are the most to blame for her death and the doomed nature of our society; or

(2) The bill that required a federal judge review the case is a breakdown of all conservative principals and has doomed our society. Bush is also blamed for doing too much.

Doing what you can for what you believe while not breaking the laws you swore to uphold should be applauded.
