Firstly, I have read claims stating much the opposite.
Secondly, did any evil come of it? Because the ILLEGAL precedent established in Terri's case may well cause or help to cause the death of many.

"Firstly, I have read claims stating much the opposite."
If you read the material, it requires bi-partisan support for the subpoena and to be held in contempt. Not likely IMO.
"Secondly, did any evil come of it?"
Perhaps not evil, but the Republicans have diminished their ability to take the high road on many issues as a result.
The LA Times has already "exposed" DeLay to be a hypocrite as he removed life support from a family member. Whether the circumstances were the same etc won't matter as much as the ability of some to make him look bad. It won't stop there either.
IF, Congress can't make a case for the validity of their subpoena or can't find the support and will to follow through on the Contempt charge, they've cheapened their image as a force to be held accountable to.
