"Firstly, I have read claims stating much the opposite."

If you read the material, it requires bi-partisan support for the subpoena and to be held in contempt. Not likely IMO.

"Secondly, did any evil come of it?"

Perhaps not evil, but the Republicans have diminished their ability to take the high road on many issues as a result.

The LA Times has already "exposed" DeLay to be a hypocrite as he removed life support from a family member. Whether the circumstances were the same etc won't matter as much as the ability of some to make him look bad. It won't stop there either.

IF, Congress can't make a case for the validity of their subpoena or can't find the support and will to follow through on the Contempt charge, they've cheapened their image as a force to be held accountable to.

Delay's father, and elderly man much older than Terri is now, was dying, at the end of his life and was on a VENTILATOR, none of which was true in Terri's case. The VENTILATOR, which unlike the ORDINARY MEANS of a feeding tube is EXTRAORDINARY MEANS and was removed. NO hypocrisy there.

BTW, few people on FR TRUST either the reporting or the JUDGMENT of the LA times, part of the MSM.

By NOT following through on the subpoena Congress has lessened their image as a force to be reckoned with, that is true. The same is true of Governor Jeb Bush and the President who backed down and did NOT take a TOUGH stand against tyrannical Judges.

By far the most damaging precedent set in this case, is the illegal decision by Judge Greer to STARVE and DEHYDRATE Terri Schiavo to death and the refusal of the courts to abide by the directives of congress to take a fresh look at it, thereby upholding Judge Greer's erroneous and UNCONSTITUTIONAL decision.

Be careful of your passing comments (which I believe were fabricated in Terri's case). They might be re-resurrected to do you in twenty years from now.
