He tried. God bless him, and protect him.

Sounds like someone with contact with the Pinellas Park cops paid attention to my concern with the fact that they came to the demonstration prepared to do nothing other than shoot the demonstrators.

Tasers do avoid unnecessary carnage.

Good intent, but I have to wonder if we aren't getting beyond a point of no return. By now her organs must be starting to shut down. Damage is being done that cannot be undone by water and food.

I'm disappointed and heartbroken by all this, but I think it is over.

Didn't the family request that this not be done any more, that the vigil remain peaceful? If so, their wishes should be followed.

I understand how everyone is focusing on Teri and making their statements by protesting and trying to storm the building. But how many other people at this moment are suffering her same fate in the countless hospices around the country? I haven't heard or read any numbers on this. Just because there's no cameras I'm sure there are others who could use a voice on their behalf.

I am truly disgusted at the attempted burglary charge. What a load of horse manure. He should fight this and sue the police for false arrest on a trumped up charge.

There was a reference to this in an earlier thread today re: Jesse Jackson's visit. I am going to include here what I posted on that thread:

"Dow Pursley, 56, of Scranton, Pa., was shocked with a Taser stun gun and was arrested on charges of attempted burglary and resisting arrest without violence, police spokesman Sanfield Forseth said."

Attempted burglary? What was he going to steal?

If he was going in to get Terri, shouldn't he have been charged with attempted kidnapping?

Sigh. She really has been reduced to a possession.

"Dow Pursley, 56, was zapped with a Taser stun gun and tackled to the ground by officers before he reached the door, Pinellas Park police said."

The man obviously understands his actions please God no matter how many goons with badges will "arrest" him for tying to help a girl being murdered by them.

"And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward." (Mathew 10:42)
I wonder what sort of creative charges they will lay on this brave child of Christ? Oh well, no matter what they charge him with it won't be as creative as what they will put on Terri Schiavo's Death Certificate.

Clearly, a dangerous fellow. No doubt he represented such a terrible danger to the brave officers that they needed to use a taser. I'm surprised they didn't just kill him on the spot. (/bitter sarcasm)

You know, there's a school of thought that a terrible injustice can blight the fate of nations. I wonder if it's true?

Let's say a few thousand "water bearers" converged on the facility at once. The local police would be potentially overwhelmed and would have to ask for support from Gov. Bush.

Would Bush be required by Greer's dictat to order the National Guard to assist the local police?

"He is a dedicated man with strong beliefs"

Apparently he did not have strong beliefs regarding the efficacy of tasers.

"Whatsoever you do to the least of My brethren, that you do unto Me."

I wonder why Jesus didn't make a spectacle of Himself storming the gates of courts that were handing down underserved sentences?

These people who claim to represent Christianity with this bizarre behavior are an embarrassment.

In a related press conference, officials at Baptist Bible College announced that they had cautioned faculty against performing any act that might be interpreted as "picking up Christ's cross," "following Christ's example," or the like.

"Emulation of Christ was part of a prior era. The modern interpretation of Christianity calls for adherents to make frequent tax-free cash donations, to will property to the church on their death, but otherwise to adopt very impassive, conscience-free demeanor. Supporting persons such as Terri is not condoned."

/sarcasm

I know the man. I am not surprised. He was an action-oriented guy who is not afraid to think outside the box. At 56 he may be less agile than when I knew him, but the way I remember him, if he had been trying to hurt those officers, he would have.

I think this is the man. God bless him.

"While the news conference was occurring and the majority of the crowd was listening to Jackson, a man rushed through security lines and towards the entrance to the hospice. Witnesses said he made it to within about 10 feet of the front door before police officers tackled him and stunned him with a Taser gun."

Pinellas Park police officers and a Pinellas County Sheriff Deputy escort a man who ran toward the door of the Woodside Hospice, where Terri Schiavo is a patient, Tuesday morning, March 29, 2005 in Pinellas Park, Fla. The unidentified man was shot by officers with tasers at the front door while the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Schindler family were having a news conference. (AP Photo/Steve Nesius)

The problem is that 5,000 more people should have walked with him at the same time.
