Did anybody catch the 2 Michael Schiavo "supporters" on H&C tonight? They were a couple of typical hippie-hags from the far left, who said they went to Florida to counter-demonstrate against the Terri Schiavo supporters, who they called "religious Nazis". Colmes grovelled and slobbered all over them, but Hannity's first question, directed to one of the hags, was, "What does that say on your shirt?". She replied, "Revolutionary Communist Youth League". Brilliant, Alan, just brilliant.
That is a great article he wrote. I have a lot of liberal friends who initially wanted to make this a right to die issue but have come to realize that it's nothing of the sort. It saddens me to see some here take the media bait and see this as bunch of religious extremists, who embarrass them, interfering with private family matter. It seems so plainly obvious to me that has been pulled from the same bag of attacks used on the President, his judicial nominees, those who rejected the judicial rulings on gay marriage, etc. etc. etc.
I heard Christopher Hitchens attack the religious extremists, claiming that religion had no role in the courts in this decision. He is right, it isn't up to the court to impose their religious beliefs but it isn't their right to prohibit the free exercise of religion either.
I really like Hitchens but he seems to think that anything motivated by religious feeling has no place in the courts, when it doesn't MATTER what motivates ANYTHING, as long as it is presented in a legal context, not a religious one, to the courts.
And MANY people watched tonight, I'm sure, knowing that Jesse would be on--many who usually don't tune in. It's ALL good.
And those two wack jobs that Alan had on were pathetic. Just pathetic.
I wouldn't mind an answer to that myself. Terry may be grandstanding, but well intentioned in this particular case. Driven by his emotions. That is a far cry from saying a starving woman has never looked more peaceful. More beautiful. Anyone really want to go down that road? Cause I guarentee Felos will trump Terry in measure of disgust any day of the week.
If folks are going to state the pro-Life movement is irreparably harmed for a generation, put up concrete fact or clarify it is opinion. Presenting it as fact doesn't make it so.
I've also come to conclusion too many people have decided polls are the final authority. I have a question for everyone. If Congress used their constitutional authority to overturn R v W, what does everyone think the opinion of the public would be? Favorable? After all, supposedly the majority is more against abortion than for.
I think everyone that is honest knows the answer. The public polls would be similiar to the polls about Terri. Why? Because people have ceded their rights to the Courts AND because rather than winning the pro-Life war, in reality we've salved our conscience with meaningless polls stating we are near to winning the war.
Well I, for one, prefer to trade polling opinion for actual progress. If this means some heartbreaking setbacks, so be it. This is a culteral war and you don't win every battle. You certainly don't win it by pretending victory has been gained while the enemy sneaks up behind you.
Bump that, Darkwolf, although I am a DU virgin so can't comment on what goes on over at The Dark Side. :-)
"Revolutionary Communist Youth League"
WPPFF(yes the Felos supporters and Terri killers on FR call themselves this now) what say you? These are your buddies.
doesn't Colmes look like someone who's feeding tube was removed like 12 years ago? I swear the man looks like a cadaver.
"Begin by explaining why so many federal judiciary appointments made by Republican Presidents have gone so wrong, giving us so many bad anti-freedom, anti-strict-construction decisions. I know why, but I want to see if you know."
Why don't you tell me because I DON'T know.
"He never has laid eyes on her, never visited once.
Pretty unbelievable, isn't it?
Most people only have a passing knowledge of this case.
Let's give her time to answer.
Colmes looks like a ghoul....UNWATCHABLE!! I would LOVe to watch the show, but Colmes creeps me out.
From my vantage point, all I hear from people dissenting from the Republican Party on this issue are ill informed (or disingenuous) arguments about how the federal Government exceeeded its authority (untrue) or distaste at the involvement of Christians in the process standing for the sanctity of life. Of course those same Christians are welcomed when votes are needed...
To my understanding those advocating for Terri's Life are standing firmly on principle and solid Constitutional foundation. Certainly I'll make my break with those suggesting the Governor should go in there with guns blazing a hail of bullets, but we're not in the wrong morally or on Congressional involvement.
So why run scared? Because of polling? That is what it always seems to fall back on. Deprived of constitutional or moral argument, trot out the polling. I thank God for the sense he allowed me not to base what is right on the particular whims of the majority. I am beginning to understand how abortion became accepted as law. These same types were probably too afraid to challenge the overreach of the Courts. Ditto removal of religion from every walk of Life. Cowardice. Failure to assume a stand for fear of political consequence. What kind of life is that. Certainly not one I choose to live.
If Terri dies, there should be a protest vote against Jeb.
I hope the Democrats beat him in the next election.
Nice sig!

Do you have multiple screen names? The post you link to is not under the same name.
At any rate, I don't recall accusing you of that sentiment.
Jeb is term-limited.
