Clive Owen to Be Officially Announced as James Bond Next Week
MI6 UK ^ | 3.29.05 | JP

Posted on 03/29/2005 10:50:48 AM PST by gopwinsin04

Following it's earlier claim that Clive Owen has been confirmed as the 6th James Bond 007, IESB.com has released the evidence behind the headline.

After a few questions about his current movie 'Sin City' he was asked about the rumours regarding James Bond.

'Yes or no to Bond?' He said 'I will be busy for awhile' while nodding his head yes, and repeated it with a grin and a smile.

The report continued as saying that the reporter was then contacted by colleague that works with Clive and stated that Bond was a done deal and that an official announcement in the trades was being brokered.

One other inside source is telling the site to expect an official announcement next week after the release of 'Sin City.'

How will they ever top the name "Pussy Galore"?

The only way to save the Bond franchise is to be anti-PC with exetreme prejudice.

They had the black guy from the recent Bond films, the one in the service always in the scenes with M lined up for Bond. Guess they decided to go white.

If they ever remake Goldfinger, she could be Pussy Galore.

Connery was a tough act to follow, Roger Moore was about the best, IMO.

It was a real disappointment for me when I saw the "real" Pierce Brosnan for the 1st time. If I remember correctly it was when he was becoming a citizen and started spouting the liberal Hollywood nonsense. I'd always read the stories about his loss of his first wife, and had him catalogued as "one of the good guys." I'm Irish and was quite pleased when someone commented on how my oldest son looked quite a bit like Pierce Brosnan. Now I say "no, he actually looks like the Italian side of the family"! LOL

Brosnan actually asked for $54 Million to do another film?!?! He wasn't that good!!

Here Here!! I started reading Ian Flemming when I was 9 or 10. Probably warped me for life. I saw Thunderball at age 8. The school librarian was horrified when I asked her for the books. I had to wait until I could get a card at the public library.... The movies just aren't as good.

Those are candidates for the next old bag Bond villainess, a la Rosa Klebb.

I didn't like more as much as I like Bronson. Bronson has a couple of looks that are in the genre of the Eastwood eyebrow lift. It made Bronson dark enough to pull of the role. I always thought Moore was dancing through the part.

Well, at least he doesn't look as smarmily foppish as Pierce Brosnan.

As I recall my friend's mother was a member of the book-of-the-month club and Fleming was putoing out 1 a year in the late 60s. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

I remember Flemings last, I think it was Colonel Son which was carried in Playboy. I even read the John Gardner ones in the 90s.

PS have you seen the Casino Royale with Barry Nelson and Peter Lorre. It's an old 50s american TV drama. Very simple, but interesting.

Brosnan was too pretty boyish with not enough toughness to him. Before you know it Bond movies will become chick flicks.

IIRC, the scene where Bond is commenting on the particular brandy they were drinking was in Goldfinger.

Probably, that being the only one I own on DVD. I've always thought that one little moment said more about Bond than anything else. I keep meaning to check out "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" again. I haven't seen it in years and even though it stars the mostly maligned George Lazenby there's been a certain buzz of rehabilitation for it of late. Apparently, from a pure story viewpoint, it's the best of them all.

A career killer.. James Bond WAS Sean Connery not the other around..
Course he could impersonate a young Sean Connery as a spoof..
That might work.. Nah! he'd come off as a metro-sexual..
Then he'd become a gay icon.. and a suffer queer end to his career..

Ouch. We will just diagree on this. I thought he was much edgier than Moore, but not as dark as Dalton. Oh well, we can all agree on Connery.

Whether or not he could learn the accent is immaterial. Whether or not the estate of Ian Fleming allows an American to play bond is the issue.
