Rightfootforward (my sister) is now in Methodist Hospital in Houston having surgery to her renal artery, which, the doctors believe, is responsible for very high blood pressure that's plagued her for the last several years. Her heart checks out just fine, but kidneys have given her trouble previously; years ago she had a stent in one of them.
She had a procedure last year that cleared the renal artery, which dropped her bp immediatey. Now both kidneys might be involved, which they won't know until they complete today's procedure. One kidney is quite small and may or may not be working anymore, which would mean it would have to be removed. Very worst case scenario, both kidneys and a lifetime of dialysis. I don't think this will be their finding, as she's basically healthy, but her very fine medical team has not ruled out anything yet.

Dear friends and prayer warriors, please ping your terrific list. I'm really worried about Rightfootforward, she's been through a lot recently and needs to stay strong through this frightening time.
Many thanks!

Prayers up for your sister, and rest assured (if you can rest at all, which I know is tough right now) that St. Luke's is one of the finest hospitals in the land.
Prayer warriors Ping.
My wife is home and doing very well after her surgery this morning.
She just had breakfast in bed, I served her.
7-10 days for recovery.
Prayers sent.
Praying for God to be with you, to guide the hands of the surgeons and to strenghten and heal. May your loved ones be strengthened and comforted.
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
Rightfootforward was new to Houston when she first had a medical emergency with extraordinarily high blood pressure. She didn't know any doctors in Houston, so I posted a thread here asking for advice and within two hours had more than a hunndred suggestions. I know she's in the best of the best medical hands, thanks to the kindess of Freepers who pointed the way. God bless you all!
Prayers continue for rightfootforward's return to perfect health and blessings!
Thank you for pinging your prayer list, The Mayor. Praise the Lord for the good news about your wife. May her recovery be smooth and progress rapidly.
Prayers sent!
