Demand Schiavo Investigation: Sample Letter to Send to Medical Examiner
Association of American Physicians and Surgeons ^ | March 28, 2005 | Association of American Physicians and Surgeons

Jon R. Thogmartin, M.D., District Chief Medical Examiner 10900 Ulmerton Rd., Largo FL 33778 Telephone #. (727) 582-6800 Fax # (727) 582-6820 mailto:wpellan@co.pinellas.fl.us

Dear Dr. Thogmartin:

When Terri Schiavo dies, the potential exists that a crime will be covered up by her planned cremation without autopsy. That potential crime is NOT the issue at the center of the present controversy, but the yet unsubstantiated allegation that an assault led to her condition in the first place.

It has been reported in the press that Michael Schiavo intends to cremate Terri Schiavo immediately upon her death.

According to the Medical Examiner's department policy posted at: http://www.co.pinellas.fl.us/forensics/policy/policystatement.htm#CA , the medical examiner must approve or deny all such requests.

The attending physician in Terri Schiavo's case has a history of 5 NPDB reported malpractice cases. There is an open quesiton of what led to her original "event".

Please disallow the cremation until the medical examiner's office can perform an appropriate investigation and/or postmortem examination to determine both the immediate cause of death AND the proximate cause of death, including the search for any injuries from the past consistent with a potential crime.

Despite the currently accepted rationale for her initial “event”, evidence on postmortem examination may reveal that Terri Schiavo was the victim of a crime many years ago.

Judge Greer has not allowed an MRI or PET Scan. PET scans are of no value post mortem, but MRI may have some limited benefit, in addition to the physical autopsy, particularly for small, old injuries to ligaments and muscles that would be consistent with a trauma that occurred due to a crime (e.g. strangulation or abuse) if one had occurred.

If there are perpetrators of a crime covering something up, they will not want such an examination done. They will be afraid of justice.

Please act now to assure no authorization is given for cremation without a proper investigation and autopsy to address these issues.

Sincerely,

"Doesn't Florida have "sunshine" laws??"

Not since the race car driver died. Jeb signed something so the widow could keep the autopsy from being scrutinized.

"The challenges and costs of maintaining vegetative state patients will pale in comparison to the problems presented by Alzheimer's disease." The answer, he suggested, was physician-assisted suicide.
My Dad had Alzheimer's. He died of pneumonia, which is called the "Old Man's Friend", which in his case it probably was. It was God's method of calling him home (with a bit to answer for I suspect :) )

That said, I'd have shot any doctor that tried to "assist" him to commit suicide."

So sorry for your loss. Someone I know cared for his ailing wife with Alzheimer's for 12 years in his home prior to her death. Twelve years of his life. You have to hand it to such people.

I've been watching this coming train wreck since January, and even I didn't think it could be as big a mess as this.

What they're doing with Terri is killing her.

That's exactly it, that's the bottom line.

Whether Michael Schiavo abused her or strangled her or in any other way is responsible for her being brain-damaged to begin with, is really secondary at this point. It doesn't matter what the autospy does or does not show. The salient point RIGHT NOW is: An otherwise physically healthy woman is being starved and dehydrated until she is dead. That's it! Starved and dehydrated until she is dead. For essentially no other reason than.... We can.

I can't believe the nonchalence this fact elicits among so many people.

I've been saying this for days, an autopsy is in order after she passes.

Can't Jeb Bush the governor at least order this considering all that has gone on?

Can't he at least force this issue?

Yes. The comments like, "Who would pay for her?" have been going the rounds.

The two doctors I saw on Kasich's show seemed to know about what her condition was, and they were perplexed as to why an MRI had not been done. They also said that an electrocephalogram would have told a lot with very little effort, but it was not done for some inexplicable reason.

Did you miss what I posted to you? lol Dr Green was wrong, and Seigel was guessing correctly.

Multiple EEGs that were taken on her. All confirmed PVS.

Governor Bush has washed his hands of all of this and has walked away. He won't be doing anything now or after Terri's death for Terri.

UPDATED LETTER

Jon R. Thogmartin, M.D., District Chief Medical Examiner 10900 Ulmerton Rd., Largo FL 33778 Telephone #. (727) 582-6800 Fax # (727) 582-6820 mailto:wpellan@co.pinellas.fl.us

Dear Dr. Thogmartin:

When Terri Schiavo dies, the potential exists that a crime will be covered up by her planned cremation without an adequate autopsy. That potential crime is NOT the issue at the center of the present controversy, but the yet unsubstantiated allegation that an assault led to her condition in the first place.

It has been reported in the press that Michael Schiavo intends to cremate Terri Schiavo immediately upon her death. It has also been recently reported that Mr. Schiavo has consented to an autopsy. We are writing this letter to urgently request that a complete autopsy be performed. If Mr. Schiavo consented to a "limited autopsy" such as limited to the brain, important information could be missed. Please refer to the attached bone scan report and analysis.

According to the Medical Examiner's department policy posted at: http://www.co.pinellas.fl.us/forensics/policy/policystatement.htm#CA , the medical examiner must approve or deny all such requests.

There is an open quesiton of what led to her original "event".

Please disallow the cremation until the medical examiner's office can perform a complete postmortem examination from a forensic standpoint to determine both the immediate cause of death AND the proximate cause of death, including the search for any injuries from the past consistent with a potential crime.

Please act now to assure no authorization is given for cremation without a proper investigation and COMPLETE autopsy to address these issues.

Sincerely,

That is the right thing to do and should answer questions on all sides regarding many issues.

Good thing he did allow this. I think he is looking for big bucks in future books and speaking engagements.

He'll become an activist for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Yes, I read it. Makes you think there is no way you can evaluate the facts, doesn't it, when the claims in the media are completely contradictory? Where did you get your info?

It's a land of laws and from what I've seen, the courts all the way through the Federal ones tied his hands unless he was willing to make an outlaw move.

...the medical examiner can refuse to issue a death certificate until he has done an autopsy. Apparently, he has that right. Hoping he does one.Think some new evidence may come to light.

And depending on what he finds its still not to late to charge Michael Schiavo with MURDER. There is no statute of limitations on murder. And if it turns out that there is evidence she was beaten even years ago then the court order of her starvation won't be a valid defense.

Its a longshot but I still hope. That and Greer gets his bony little a$$ called before congress. But of course that would mean Senator Frist had a sex change and had a pair of nuts installed on him.

I really believe that Terri's Therapy money won in a lawsuit was used to buy off the judge who sentenced her to death.Felos was paid about $500,000 by the husband in this case with another $100,000 or so going to a handful of other lawyers. It's enough money for the judge to get paid and maybe even enough for the husband to get a few bucks thrown back at him.Greer approved the spending of the money on legal fees instead of therapy.

There's going to be an autopsy.

You wouldn't know it from reading FR. Guess posting the news would ruin too many people's conspiracy theories.
