Judge Forced Into Schiavo Spotlight

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Death threats have been made against him for allowing Michael Schiavo to remove the feeding tube that has kept his 41-year-old wife alive for the past 15 years, and the Southern Baptist (search) church that Greer belonged to for years has asked him to leave the congregation.

This past week, he parted ways with his Southern Baptist church, which had advocated keeping Terri Schiavo alive, after his pastor suggested it would be better if he left.

"You must know that in all likelihood it is this case which will define your career and this case that you will remember in the waning days of life," Calvary Baptist Pastor William Rice wrote to Greer in a letter than later became public. "I hope you can find a way to side with the angels and become an answer to the prayers of thousands."

Our states need to make laws to see that nothing like this ever happens again. But where I live, it is against the law for any of us to starve even dogs or cats, so I never knew that our government would be willing to do this to people. I feel that the courts have failed us.

If Greer set out to achieve infamy in his time, he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

I still find it really hard to believe this judge is a "conservative" Christian....you can hide out in bible believing churches for years but it doesn't make you a Christian.

I've been holding off saying it until now.

The ultimate resolution of this matter will be in a series of mammoth civil lawsuits at the state and federal level, that will bring all the players into venues where the facts can be heard.

It will be satisfying to watch.

I wonder if blind Greer could pass the "follow the balloon" neurological exam, any better than Terri did.

And I suspect she was sleep-deprived for a night or two before they taped the exam.

He has allowed over 3/5ths of the settlement money that was to be used for her care to be spent on the lawyers trying to kill her?

He has accepted campaign contributions from the lawyer trying to kill her. -- hmmm... is that a kickback?

Imagine says MARY "Ripper" Repper the most awful thing that has happened in this case is that he has been asked to leave his church.
The circle of death ghouls seems to be quite extensive in Clearwater.
As to Greer hanging in there, let's hope that soon he'll just hang for what he's done.

Hillary Rodham-Stalin is now portrayed as a "praying person". John Kerry was an "altar boy" before he was a "war hero". Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are called "reverend". Judas Iscariot was a "disciple of Jesus Christ".

"He (Greer) has shown the will to stand up to raw power......."

The reverse is more likely correct. Others have not shown the will to stand up to Greer's raw power.

This is a spin article. It's not the first and won't be the last.

Absolutely! The church is often used for self-aggrandizement and promotion...

"A lawyer told me when I first got involved in this case that he (Greer) does
not have a reverse on his transmission," Anderson said. "He apparently is
too PRIDEFUL to say 'I made a mistake. I made a mistake because I didn't
have all the information and I am sorry I made a mistake."

This is accounting for Judge Greer's constitutional interpretation (upheld on appeal) that Terri is only 3/5 of a person.

Only half-joking of course.
