After much hard work that has gone on for well over a year, it's been a week and 2 days since Terri has been without food and hydration.
Many asking the question how we could have become such a callous society as to deny a helpless human the basic necessity of food and water.
Terri's plight has brought to light many problems in the judicial system and opened our eyes to the fact that some laws need to be changed.
The work will continue to protect helpless individuals from suffering the same injustice as Terri.
He does. Still sorry you lost your mom so young though.
Amen!
And God bless Terri and Bob and Mary Schindler and Suzanne and Bobby.
"I just heard Jonny Cochran died."
Yes, from a brain tumour apparently.. as I posted on that particular thread, no matter what my personal feelings about the man were, everyone has a family who loves them and deserve comfort in that time.. I pray for God to surround them with love and let them feel his Almighty presence.. amen.
No me...my first and second votes were cast for Jimmy Carter and I was a registed D. I was a dope. Voted for RR in his second term and never looked back.
May God touch Greer's, Felos', Michael's hearts....only He can......
God works in VERY mysterious ways, lol!
LOL, we just had an almost identical post!
Not a dope...just ignorant, maybe. : )
Let me fill you in. Rush has stood way tall for Terri - all last week, and two days this week. He has educated a whole lot of folks.
Sorry Mark, you don't stand by and watch while someone is STARVED and DEHYDRATED to DEATH!!!
yes we did.
When I said ignorant, hope you know I meant that youth is ignorance. I was a Republican but unhappy with Ford, so I also voted for Carter. What a mistake! But, I was also ignorant. : )
I voted for him because my roomate in college really liked him. She was a Christian, he called himself a Christian...I wasn't a Christian.
Don't feel bad hon.. I voted for Clinton...twice... thought all the bad press was just people out to get him.. talk about being a dope!!! Thank God for my hubby.. he set me straight about ALOT of things! Had me do my own research so that he couldn't be accused of influencing me unfairly..
and there are worse things like being a registered D.. like a registered G(reen) ...
I knew what you meant.;)
Reminds me of Evangelical Christians being locked up with Catholics in Atlanta jails in 1989. Some folks got a paradigm shift of their worldview then.
Y'all or so naive when it comes to law. Florida law as
it currently stands allows a guardian to decide on life
support decisions when the patient has no living will or
can not make the decision for herself.
There is nothing Bush the president or Bush the governor
do to override the law and the judge. All they can do is
ask for a federal judge to review and this they have already
done. Even the supreme court rejected review of Terri.
Like it or not, this is how our country works. The law is
followed whether one considers it moral or immoral.
If you don't like the laws as they stand, work to get them
changed. But for God's sake don't ask Bush to break the law.
Nat Hentoff, the Village Voice writer, coming up on Savage in a little bit.
He's written 2 great columns in the past couple of days about Terri.

(in case anyone else wants to listen in)
That was another reason why I voted for him. But, in hindsight, I see that that doesn't mean he should have been in office.
LOL, thanks...I feel better.
May those who seek my life
be disgraced and put to shame;
may those who plot my ruin
be turned back in dismay.
May they be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them away;
may their path be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
Since they hid their net for me without cause
and without cause dug a pit for me,
may ruin overtake them by surprise-
may the net they hid entangle them,
may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD
and delight in his salvation.
My whole being will exclaim,
"Who is like you, O LORD ?
You rescue the poor from those too strong for them,
the poor and needy from those who rob them."
Ruthless witnesses come forward;
they question me on things I know nothing about.
They repay me evil for good
and leave my soul forlorn.
Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked;
they gnashed their teeth at me.
O Lord, how long will you look on?
Rescue my life from their ravages,
my precious life from these lions.
I will give you thanks in the great assembly;
among throngs of people I will praise you.
Let not those gloat over me
who are my enemies without cause;
let not those who hate me without reason
maliciously wink the eye.
They do not speak peaceably,
but devise false accusations
against those who live quietly in the land.
They gape at me and say, "Aha! Aha!
With our own eyes we have seen it."
O LORD, you have seen this; be not silent.
Do not be far from me, O Lord.
Awake, and rise to my defense!
Contend for me, my God and Lord.
Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God;
do not let them gloat over me.
Do not let them think, "Aha, just what we wanted!"
or say, "We have swallowed him up."
May all who gloat over my distress
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who exalt themselves over me
be clothed with shame and disgrace.
May those who delight in my vindication
shout for joy and gladness;
may they always say, "The LORD be exalted,
who delights in the well-being of his servant."
My tongue will speak of your righteousness
and of your praises all day long.
