Part 7 - EASTER SUNDAY -NO FOOD OR WATER 10-11TH DAYS- SHE'S FIGHTING TO LIVE [Schiavo]
Continuing thread ^ | 03/27/05 | various

After much hard work that has gone on for well over a year, it's been a week and 2 days since Terri has been without food and hydration.

Many asking the question how we could have become such a callous society as to deny a helpless human the basic necessity of food and water.

Terri's plight has brought to light many problems in the judicial system and opened our eyes to the fact that some laws need to be changed.

The work will continue to protect helpless individuals from suffering the same injustice as Terri.

Note, she says she hasn't had a diagnosis confirmed and is afraid to pursue therapy.

Firstly, a parent cannot "pursue therapy" until they have a diagnosis. I believe she is saying her youngest is not officially diagnosed, and it's sort of tough to get therapy when this is the case. Her youngest child sounds very young. My wife and I had every indication that our youngest was Down Syndrome upon his birth but doctors were not able to officially diagnose his condition until he was one-and-a-half years old.

I think I read her family disputes that...I think.

I don't know what to think. Last I heard, there was no chance at intervention.

Have read very little today. It was my daughters 20th B'Day.

"In that debate, the question was asked, what if a judge DOESN'T order the tube reinserted? The consensus was that any judge would surely recognize this new Law and immediately have Terri's tube reinserted. You can bet your boots that many of our legislatures' eyes were opened to how tyrannical our system has become when this Bill, signed into Law in the middle of the night by a President who had flown from Texas to do so, was ignored by a judge until 3:00 the next day, and then denied 16 hours later.

What if Judge Whittmore had acted as expected by our legislatures? Congress and President Bush would now be the heroes of the day.

But because of the tyrannical actions of Judge Whittmore, and the 11th Circuit Court, we are now blaming President Bush and Governor Bush, rather than these out-of-control judges. "

Right, the complaints against the Bush team reminds me of those idiot leftists who jumped up ready to blame America for 9-11 ...

wake up, folks, pay attention: The death of Terri was ordered by a *Judge*, and not a single Judicial court has seen fit to countermand that order.

Vent your spleen on the the out-of-control judicial branch of Government, and the feckless Florida State Senate.
Bushes did everything in *their* power, but in our system of Government they dont have all the power.

I've been comparing this to Roe for days. Good point.

Will this be our country's reward to the members of the Greatest Generation who are still with us? Dispatch them the same way the Nazis did the inconvenient.

May God forgive our nation and restore righteousness and justice.

maybe I made a mistake.

Well, if you did, I've been making a mistake since '98. Stick around. There are many very good people here.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then he'll call me someday to my home faraway,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Correction: the courts say they don't have the power.

The legislature could say opposite AND PREVAIL, simply by agreeing in advance not to impeach.

Please, I hope you don't think I was criticizing you as I was not. I certainly understand your emotions and you have every right to them. I just didn't want you to feel bad when you get attacked and think you are doing something wrong. Just trying to help you keep your blood pressure down. :)

This country is not going to be killing children who are autistic. It just won't happen.

A lot of people thought that this country wouldn't be killing a disabled woman either. That's what scared her. In Florida, if you are a disabled person with a feeding tube, your life just may have become obsolete, depending on who your guardian is.

You said disabled, that means ill to me.

This is just incorrect.

I've said this before, but Terri is tougher than nails. For someone who "wants to die", she certainly appears to be putting up the fight of the century to stay alive. God chooses the weak in this world to shame the strong. Felos and Shiavo should be ashamed if they aren't, in my opinion. Even if Michael Shiavo did nothing to cause Terri's initial problems, and even if he's been purer than the driven snow about his initial motives, when he took up with the other woman all bets were off and he should have given Terri back to her parents. Neither Felos or Shiavo are getting a single peso out of me for their possible "tell all" books, and I won't even channel surf past any possible made for tv shows about it either. Who knows, perhaps they'll forego the future offers. . . .

This is the last thing I'm gonna post about this. Just cut sfi mom some slack and let's move on.

Autism is one disoder on a spectrum of Pervasive Personality Developments. It's not an illness or a disease. Has more to do with how the brain functions.

Kids with autistic tendencies are somewhat different. But they can also be very bright and talented. Some are more severe than others. Many people with autistic spectrum disorders make amazing contributions...Einstein was one.

The fear here (I'm sure for sfimom) is that IN THE FUTURE, anyone with a label placed on them, even by a doctor, might be in danger.

We just need to fight so it doesn't come to that.

What is wrong with him?

Um......he might have read some of the same things I have about signs that it's past the point of no return. We'll leave it at that.

Perhaps someday, I will understand why Jeb Bush did what he did or didn't do. Right now, I have too much anger towards him to think rationally. When I read today, that after Holy Mass, he made a statement of support for Michael, I lost any sliver of respect for him that I had left.

Not that it matters what I think. I'll just continue to pray for Terri. She's all that matters right now.

You are absolutely right on target, Sun!!!

Keep spreading the word. I'm still going to fight for Terri on every front. I have NOT given up!!

Terri is still alive. That precious sweetheart has a huge will to live and I can't rest until she is rescued.

That could be anyone of us lying in that HOSPICE DEATH CAMP.

Our family could be in the same anguish, torment and pain, that Terri's family is in. We can't stop fighting for her.
