Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. yesterday accused a Baltimore County woman who threatened to reveal more information about the dealings of former administration aide Joseph F. Steffen Jr. of being a disgruntled ex-employee who worked with high-ranking Democrats to exact revenge on him after she was fired.
The woman, Towson University pediatrics and nursing instructor Michelle Lane, released documents last week showing her dismissal came after she made a series of complaints to her supervisors at the Maryland Department of Human Resources about inadequate care for troubled children.
Speaking on Stateline with Governor Ehrlich on WBAL-AM yesterday morning, Ehrlich suggested that Lane was an eager participant in a Democratic smear campaign against him.
"It appears she's been meeting regularly with members of the Democratic leadership," Ehrlich said. "She worked for us at various times in two or three capacities. I'm not at great liberty obviously to describe employment. Needless to say, her employment was not up to snuff.
"She was let go and since then she was pretty angry, going to the press and going to the Democratic leadership and shopping the story," Ehrlich said.

Yesterday, Ehrlich continued to focus public attention on how Steffen's rumor-mongering about Mayor Martin O'Malley was exposed.
He again urged reporters to investigate and suggested that the person who appeared to bait Steffen into discussing the rumors on the conservative Web site www.FreeRepublic.com, known by the screen name "MD4BUSH," should reveal his identity.
"I would love to find him. I think it's obviously going to be a major story when it comes out, and it will," Ehrlich said.

Governor Ehrlich thinks it will be a major story when MD4Bush is unmasked. Hopefully, the MSM will agree.
Thanks, this looks stronger that earlier reports.
Interesting.
When the Rathergate case first came to light, many of us wondered just how far the MSM was going to help the Democrats, and whether this perhaps revealed a pattern that went beyond just this one case. We are all used to the extreme bias, but the Rathergate case was something completely different...
Now, it seems, we have a case of the press at best falling for a Democrat dirty trick without bothering to look into it in the least, much like, it would appear, the fake Schiavo "Republican" memo.
>>but the Rathergate case was something completely different...
Ahh, but was it?
There's no chance the MSM will do anything but use every means in its power to bury this story. None.
Thanks for the ping. Looks like this may turn into a very interesting story.
It will be a very interesting story IF we'll be able to find it. This may not be going the way the Baltimore Sun wants. It was great to hear Ehrlich, he's not going to be a doormat for anyone's agenda.

EXCERPT
[Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr. (D)] Curran said he recused himself from the review of the Steffen e-mails because he is O'Malley's father-in-law. But he said lawyers in his office did advise the governor's staff about which e-mails should be released and which ones they had the discretion to withhold. The final decision, Curran said, rested with the governor and his staff.
Curran also shed some light on reports that Steffen's computer hard drive was no longer being held by his office. Curran said his office received a written request from Ehrlich's chief counsel, Jervis Finney, to ship the computer to an analyst at ICG Inc. of Princeton, N.J., for inspection.
The company's Web site says it can use "forensic tools and techniques" to "extract critical information from deleted and partially overwritten files, as well as from other physical hard drive locations normally inaccessible or invisible to the user."
Ping.
You can't trust no woman,
Maybe he had it comin'
I've obviously missed some parts. I thought everyone knew who MD4Bush was, and that he'd gotten fired? I guess I'm very confused.
Join some the crowd, but let me see if I can explain it the way I understand it.
Joseph F. Steffen Jr. an aid to Governor Erlich was a regular Freeper on FreeRepublic for a long time. (I can not remember his Freeper name) Not to long ago MD4Bush joined FreeRepublic and pretended to be a conservative. MD4Bush apparently on a thread started talking about Major Mallony being gay. Joseph Steffen picked up the bait and apparently there were lots of Freepmail between Joseph and MD4Bush. Those PRIVATE Freepmails got released to the media and because of the public storm the Governor let his aid Stepphen go. Some think that MD4Bush may be this Lane women.
It appears that this Lane women had been let go of her employment in the Governors office and was on a vendeta.
When flipping through channels this morning, I believe it was on Meet the Press, a Liberal was making hay out of that unsigned memo that was sent to all Republican Congressmen urging them to vote for the Schiavo Bill as a way to "energize our base".
Any Democrat dirty-trickster with a word processor can generate whatever unsigned memo they want about any subject and the Liberal media will fall all over themselves to give it legitimacy.
Thanks! That makes a bit more sense!
