After Defeats Schiavo Parents Tell Supporters Go Home
AP - Yahoo ^ | March 26, 2005 | Jane Sutton

Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.

"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.

It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

...How will they do that, when the subject of their investigation has demonstrated his power to QUASH their subpoenas?...

Yes. That was unbelievable, as was his sealing the records from DCF so that they could not investigate, and then furthermore telling them they had no jurisdiction to remove Terri from Camp Starve to Death.

And the County Sheriff's Department and the local police were ordered by Greer not to stand down and to resist. Local police made the remark that if Jeb sent the crew in they would not let them remove Terri UNLESS Judge Greer was there with them.

So, what to do.

Grant the local police their wish. Bring Judge Greer with them. In handcuffs, of course.

Summon superior forces. No way these local hicks will stand up against the Florida National Guard. The Sheriff's department was quoted as joking about whether they had enough officers to handle the National Guard (quoted in a paper, who knows if it's true) but just in case it is, bring in enough men and firepower to erase any silly notion about that.

Worry about the details later. If the political fallout from this would be any worse then it is already going to be, I'd be shocked.

I don't believe those polls saying the majority of people think the government should not interfere on this one. But even if they are accurate, the people will change their tune when they become fully aware of what has transpired. Namely, the attempted (so far) murder of a defenseless woman who has committed no crime. A murder for the convenience of Michael Shiavo, orchestrated by a sick attorney and a bumbling, hateful, incompetent and probably corrupt Judge.

When a religious cult leader defied the law for owning certain weapons, we burnt his compound to the ground with everyone still in it, including women and children. Clinton remained President. Reno remained AG.

How could trying to save an innocent woman from being murdered by dehydration and starvation who is completely defenseless be any worse then that?

Are you willing to take that chance? I mean, are you REALLY willing to gamble with the lives of the police and/or state police and/or the national guardsmen?

Are you REALLY willing to risk possible bloodshed, based on a hunch?

He has authority under the Florida Statutes to go in an get Terri.

Plus today I heard 63% of Floridians believe Terri should not have the tube replaced.

"Greer and Felos are both members of the Hemlock Society. And they are both involved in the hospice chain. They moved Terri into THEIR hospice in order to test out their new euthanasia law, signed by Jeb Bush in 1999."

Thanks for the info - I had heard some of that, but I didn't know Greer was a member of the Hemlock Society as well or about testing the euthanasia law. And tie this to the possible Medicare/Medicaid fraud allegations involving Terri, and it raises some interesting questions. I pray this all gets investigated, but I am afraid it probably won't - but it certainly needs to be.

Terri's brother was on Fox tonight and he mentioned something that I was shocked to hear - he said his family has never gotten a copy of the admittance papers from Terri's first hospitalization. He said they got a copy of the discharge summary - which had some disturbing things in it - but never received a copy of the admittance records. That surprised me.

Chad isn't doing anything but acting like a voice of reason. That doesn't warrant insinuations that he is 'up to something'.

I asked, he answered. No insinuations implied or professed. I'm out.

I meant STARVATIOIN has been done all over the world.

I know that. But to disabled people because the husband wants rid of them or it was their wishes even if there is no proof. I don't believe it across the board.

I don't think Muslims would even deign to think woman are worth putting feeding tubes INTO their bodies..!!

As flawed as some Muslim actions are in my eyes, I do not believe that is true across the board. Some Muslim husbands do care for their wives.

They do 'honor killings,' don't they?

Yes, that is unfortunate. We do dishonor killings now. What is the difference?

Don't give them any ideas. They are such evil vile people they would love to do the dehydration and starvation routine to whoever they capture.

Not their style. They seem to prefer lots of blood and videos now. They are not all totally depraved and inhumane as some would make them to be.

Oh am I gonna get it. I think there are a lot of Muslims who have more humanity than what we are witnessing in Florida, taking into account the other players.

Here's an independent advocacy group (volunteers) trying to preserve the original purpose of hospices. There's information on this page about "Hospice Standards of Care".

MtOrlando,

Be kind to Chad. After all, he's trying to find a nice way to communicate. And he probably doesn't think of it as murder because it was 'legal.'

Does he? Does he really? Seems to me he tried that very thing, and he had an injunction slapped on him... Could it be possible that even the governor of state could be bound by an injunction? One would think it is entirely possible.

I mean, if Jeb Bush is the man I know (and he has done ALOT over the years to help Terri. I believe she'd have been dead years ago were it not for his intervention) can yu imagine how frustrated and conflicted he is? How helpless he feels? And what does he get? Zero support...

Sad.

the national poll indicates that also....sad that some here would equate that to those people being death worshipers which I've heard talk of...nonsense, they don't want the govt intruding in family matters such as this and anyone can go read the polls.......it is not just Dems taking these polls

Good question. However, maybe it's just me and my crazy talk, but what possible good could come out of bloodshed in Terri's, or God's name?

No need to drag Him into this discussion, is there?

Bloodshed is not required. Just leadership and statesmanship. From another perspective, bloodshed is inevitable, if you consider Terri a casualty.

How would that help Terri?

Perhaps she might not die.

How would that help our republic?

Perhaps the Republic would still exist. When judges are the supreme rulers who delegate power to the executive and legislature, the Republic is gone. Welcome to the Oligarchy.

How would that help the pro-life cause?

If we can't even keep one disabled woman from being starved to death, there is no way abortion will ever be within reach!

I've never said that, nor have I ever said I believed that, nor have I ever posted anything that could reasonably or rationally be construed as believing that. However, feel free to lie all you want about me.

Of course, Janet Reno also didn't have any compunctions with violating the law, nor did she have any problems ordering the of killing large numbers of people based on lies.

She's more like Greer, and Jeb IS nothing like her. Thank God.

Jeb Bush is a gutless spineless leader. Any Republican who votes for this coward is stupid.

What is your opinion of God in this matter. When Terri dies will you hold the same opinion of Him that you hold of mortal Bush?

Was the poll conducted by the Felos law firm, the Hemlock Society, or CNN?

Thanks for the transcript of Rush with the clips of Jack the Dripper.

At least here in Michigan, a Blue state BTW, Jack the Dripper was convicted of murder, and then given the maximum sentence the state allows by courageous Judge Jessica Cooper.

At the sentencing, Judge Cooper told Jack the Dripper: "You did what you did and you dared the world to stop you. Well sir, consider yourself stopped."
