ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A former nursing home aide imprisoned for raping a patient in a coma-like state nearly a decade ago was denied parole after he claimed he was only trying to help the woman, who later gave birth.

John Horace, 60, said he thought a pregnancy could awaken the woman, known publicly as Kathy, from her coma, according to parole transcripts.

"I thought that by doing this, if she came out of the coma ... she would have a normal life again," Horace said at a state Parole Board hearing earlier this month. He claimed he had read in a medical book how to impregnate a comatose woman to help her recover.

Horace was convicted in 1997 of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse and received eight to 25 years in prison.

A transcript of the Sept. 8 parole hearing was obtained by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle under state public access law.

Kathy had been in a chronic vegetative state since a car accident in 1985 when she was 19. Her pregnancy was discovered in late 1995, and she gave birth prematurely to a son in March 1996. She died a year later, never having regained consciousness. (story continues)

My son is 6 months old. I about laughed at a woman in line yesrerday who said, "Ohhh! He looks like a little person." I answered, "He's thinking, 'I am a little person.'" She backpedaled a little with, "I mean look at that little button nose and that mouth. " I assume she meant he looked like an older child and just worded it wrong.

Thank you, for the information.

I'm writing it down, now.

Oh, my husband and I have living wills, but will be visiting our attorney to tell them what can and can't be done by line item, up to and including that we do and don't want done with our bodies after death.

God forbid some judge decide that once people are dead they don't need to be buried.....

And our U.S. Surpreme court is as scummy as the rest of the courts in Florida.

Thank you, so much.

What wonderful history our Bible has and yet so many fail to see it.

LIBERTARIANS: "The parents let the rape-child be born? Did the taxpayers have to foot the bill? How are we ever going to be fiscally responsible if we set up a socialist state!"

They are occupied in another play where they get to kill an innocent woman.

The Judge nor the Government is killing her.

The Constitution limits the power of the government.

The government can not prevent free speech, this does not mean the government is responsible for everything said.

Her family, legally that is her husband, made a decision, (Glad I'm not in his shoes.), and because we are a nation of laws, we have to live within them, even if it seems to stink sometimes.

Respect the fact that our government is limited and the decision of the family (legally speaking) was supported by the courts.

I supported the President for tying to help, I can understand not encouraging the culture of death. We have to accept she passed away a long time ago and no one is killing her now. We need to unite to fight the rats. No need to respond, in a few weeks what I'm saying might become more clear.

Pretty interesting that being PVS you still have the right not to get raped, but not the right to stay alive.

I think even dead folk have the right not to get raped.

What a load of BS. Challenge him to produce that book.

I wonder how her parents deal with the fact that they are outraged at the rape, yet probably are happy that their daughter lives on in a strange way in her son, who I am sure they love and cherish.
Weird.

While I suppose you could have a live in mistress, it would be very difficult for you to have impregnated her once, let alone twice.

Let's give him 50,000 volts and see if that does the trick.

Better yet, put him on the Greer Diet. Sort of like the Atkins Diet but 0 calaries and 0 fluids.

The Judge nor the Government is killing her.

A score of judges signed their names to her execution order because they affirmed it.

The Constitution limits the power of the government.

Judges interpret the Constitution in any manner that pleases them. That is why a 17 year old who murders a woman, even if he is convicted and sentenced, will live much longer than Terri Schiavo.

We have to accept she passed away a long time ago and no one is killing her now.

She is still alive. Your doctrine is interesting though. It sounds like something Osama Bin Laden can use in his defense. He didnt' really murder those innocent victims. They were already dead and all he did was issue legal rulings ...
