BEIRUT (Reuters) - A bomb caused a large explosion in a suburb of east Beirut, a security source said Saturday. "A large bomb exploded near a commercial center in Sin al-Fil," said the security source who declined to be named.
Ambulances and rescue workers rushed to the scene, witnesses said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Pray for any and all that may be injured or killed.
Kinda depends how good one's hearing is. :-)
The explosion occured at 07:30 GMT in the industrial zone N-E of Beirut in a sawmill next to a printing press. There is no oil refinery.
It should be around 100 Kilograms of TNT.
Wait, a sawmill? Sawmills explode by themselves occasionally. (no sarcasm)
Blue balloons are released by opposition protesters as the shadow of Mohammed al-Amin mosque falls on paper boards which form a huge likeness of the slain former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri, held up by protesters in downtown Beirut, Lebanon, Saturday March 26, 2005. As a sharply critical U.N. report blamed Damascus for stoking tensions that may have led to the assassination of former premier Rafik Hariri, the Syrian army resumed pulling units from Lebanon ahead of a meeting next month to decide on a withdrawal demanded by the Lebanese opposition and the international community.(AP Photo/Hussein Malla)
Just Muslims having fun according to the dictates of their religion. ISLAM specifically condones the use of bombs. Mohammed had a dream and Allah told him so.
we do not see it that way in Lebanon. the syrian withdrawal from Lebanon means big $$$$$ in 10 digits being cut from the Syrian leaders. It is normal they react that way. The Syrian regime will not last long, it will begin eating itself.
So---a pile of lumber exploded? Probly Lebanese cedar? Do they have OSHA? Answers the question about the tree falling in the sawmill when no one's around---makes a bigboom!
I need Koran chapter and verse on the authority for making lumber bombs?
A building in a Beirut industrial area is turned into a raging inferno Saturday, March 26, 2005. Arab TV stations cited security officials saying a bomb caused the blast. The nature of the explosion was not immediately known, but witnesses said the blast, coming on the eve of the Easter holiday, occurred in the predominantly Christian northeastern Beirut suburb of Dekweneh. Other witnesses said the blast took place in the Bouchrieh-Dekweneh industrial zone, one of the largest such areas north of Beirut where several wood, plastic and cable factories are based. It is also close to a residential area. (AP Photo/APTN)
