WASHINGTON -- By a margin of almost 2-to-1, likely Florida voters feel strongly that Congress and President Bush should have stayed out of the battle over Terri Schiavo's fate, according to a new poll conducted this week for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Florida Times-Union.

I have been saying this since they got involved in this case. This is a disaster for us. I really feel for all parties in this mess, but this is not worth throwing away all of the hard work we have done.
I wonder what the % sympathetic would have been if the question had been asked, "michael schiavo has taken up with another woman during Terri's incapacitation and still legally to Terri Schiavo, do you approve or disapprove".
Interesting that you managed to avoid mentioning Terris' name in your post.
*There is a right to carry out the wishs of a patient to end treatment. That treatment was the PEG tube.*
The patients wishes are not clear. The parents who are acting more like parents say the husband, who is not acting like a husband, is incorrect. Just because the courts say so, dont make it so.
Exactly and Amen.
The impeachment of clinton according to the media polls was a "supposed" disaster also. It wasn't.
I wonder what the % sympathetic would have been if the question had been asked, "michael schiavo has taken up with another woman during Terri's incapacitation and still legally married to Terri Schiavo, do you approve or disapprove"
FWIW ... I agree.
Say I am on the 5% that thinks this is a horrible thing and that I won't go with the GOP again...
and then there is that other 5% that says since the Marines or whoever didn't go in and massacre anything that stood in their way, that's 10% and that's your election right there....
I really hope it doesn't go that way. Not that I am registered with the GOP (I am an independent), but I tend to vote for the most conservative candidate with a chance to win.
It was legal to kill Jews in Germany. They were sentenced to death by judges who went home at the end of the day, bounced their kids on their knee, and then ate of good crystal. They were model citizens. They were also mass murderers. People like you always claim that "I would have stopped the SS, and done everything in my power to save the Jews". You are a liar and just as complicit now that you are given the chance to defend innocent human life but instead opt for murder. I despise the left. The philosophy that loves death! Communism, socialism, nazism. All leftist philosophies responsible for 100 million dead last century alone. But they weep when a convicted child murderer is put to death. The ACLU expends every measure to fight for the rights of convicted killers. The left is actually gleeful that Terri is being put to death. Shame on you! But I take comfort that a Just God is ultimately in charge and we will all have to account for our actions and lack thereof. The light of truth will eventualy shine and no one will ever be able to say to Him, "I didn't know".
Cute. There are patients there with all kinds of diseases, probably more cancer patients than anything else. They do deserve peace for cryin out loud.
A man who many say she was about to divorce. A man who now lives with another woman and has 2 children with. A man who numerous nurses say has refused to give her even the most basic of comforts for 15 years. At the very least you have to grant that their are some very serious conflicts and differences of opinion here. I err on the side of life. You err on the side of death. Very simple. The culture of death among doctors is very strong I again see.
"And since when did the president not understand Politics 101 that you do not cater to the 25% of your radical base?"
Hey Peach, it's funny, one of the things I have always loved the President for is his ability to try to keep politics out of his decisions... MOST OF THE TIME :0) I watched him alot in his first 2 1?2 years in office and kept thinking "He really doesn't care about politics... He makes his decision based on the fact that he truly feels it IS the right thing to do... He doesn't care about being re-elected... Sure, he'd like to be, but he's not going to pander just to get re-elected" I really believe that.
That being said, after those first 2 1/2 I think he realized that in order to do alot of what he wanted he needed to be in office for more than four years. Thus, he needed to look at compromising during his campaign for re-election. Now that he has been, I really think alot of the decisions he makes are truly from the heart that it IS the right thing to do for his fellow Americans. Maybe I'm just a naive idiot, but I believe the man is a good man. What always sticks in the front of my mind, Peach is when he spoke to the nation in front of Congress after 9/11 and in his last state of the union when he pointed out the Iraqi woman with the ink on her finger, he had to try his damnest NOT to cry. As opposed to "His Slickness", who when walking away from a funeral smiling caught a glimpse of a news camera, had to do his damnest TO cry.... I'll never forget that...
What hard work? If we don't take a stand for innocent human life we are worth nothing as a party or a society for that matter.
Why do you guys who have never walked in this man's shoes condemn him? This is some of why people are getting disgusted with this, the constant demonizing of this man is astounding.
And this means what?
