WASHINGTON -- By a margin of almost 2-to-1, likely Florida voters feel strongly that Congress and President Bush should have stayed out of the battle over Terri Schiavo's fate, according to a new poll conducted this week for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Florida Times-Union.

The Hospice brought it upon themselves by housing Terri.

I saw my doctor yesterday for a medical problem. We discussed Terri's case briefly as I have a living will and my doctor is the person I have named to make the decisions. I am a 55 year old widow. I have 3 daughters. I don't want them to have to do that. Besides, I can see them arguing over it. I asked him if he would starve me to death. He said, "It depends, do you want to be starved to death?" I told him no. I want him to give me a morphine drip and ease me out. I am an R.N. and we used to work together. He is one year younger than I am. We laughed about that. I don't know if he can do it. He said he doesn't agree with what they are doing to Terri, but he does not think the government should have gotten involved. I disagreed. My doctor is a member of a very well known Republican political family. A very conservative Catholic family. So there are differences among us as far as what the government should do and not do. It doesn't mean that that segment of our party is any less supportive of right to life, it just means that they do not want government becoming involved in our personal lives.

But if he had opted for STARVATION... they'd have given him all the morphine he could handle!

http://www.msnbc.com is doing a who should decide poll. Husband or Wife? Poll starts at 60% for husband.

The MSM and democrats are trying to push poll this now that terri's life is near end. This is not about opinion and polls, this is about giving DEMOCRATS COVER FROM THE OBVIOUS FACT THAT THE PUBLIC DOES SUPPORT LIFE.

These are the same idiots who would ahve surrendered after 9/11. The same fools who wanted to defer to the UN.

This also are the same people who created polls attacking the swift vets.

You're right there! I wonder if the GOP is being hijacked.

FLORIDA SURVEY RESULTS

The Research 2000 Florida Poll was conducted from March 21 through March 24, 2005. A total of 600 likely voters who vote regularly in state elections were interviewed statewide by telephone.  Those interviewed were selected by the random variation of the last four digits of telephone numbers. A cross-section of exchanges was utilized in order to ensure an accurate reflection of the state. Quotas were assigned to reflect the voter registration of distribution by county.

The margin for error, according to standards customarily used by statisticians, is no more than plus or minus 4% percentage points. This means that there is a 95 percent probability that the “true” figure would fall within that range if the entire population were sampled. The margin for error is higher for any subgroup, such as for gender or party affiliation.

Exactly right, Mike... I despised Hannity when he pulled his whole "they have tendency to eat their own" comment... Still do, because I feel he broadbrushed with that comment. However, he is dead on when it comes to this issue. I've rarely seen the extent of mean, disrespectful and overall nasty posts from FReepers, at other FReepers... I am guilty of it as the next guy, however, I do purposely private reply later in the thread or after sleeping on it to the other party apologizing for my comments. NOt necessarily the comment, but the delivery of it.

We are very passionate on this forum in our beliefs and views, but I do hope we come out the other side after this poor girl has gone to be with the Lord, understanding that our values are united the majority of the time. And BTW, I purposely used the terms rarely and majority because I'm not so ignorant as to think we are robotic and agree on all topics....

Since when did conservatives and Christians think it was a good idea to use children to make a political point? That's what the liberals do and get slammed for it.

Who is doing what? Which children have we been misusing?

Since when did conservatives think it was a good idea for the federal government to get involved in what has for years been a private matter between families and doctors?

Since the US Civil War. It is their duty to enforce constitutional law.

Since when did conservatives think something should be a federal matter vs. a state's right.

The state does not have a right to starve innocent women to death. This is a state issue and Jeb Bush should either act or resign.

Since when did Christians think it was okay to stand outside a Hospice with bullhorns yelling all day and night? Those patients in that Hospice are suffering because of this.

Perhaps if some of those patients were actually getting medical help they wouldn't be suffering at all.

No, the GOP is developing a moral spine. Still a bit flabby at this point, but it'll firm up if they are diligent to exercise it.

Most people do not realize Greer is a Circuit court jugde. Circuit court judges are often rotaited between civil and criminal courts, Circuit court judges unlike county court judges are able to issue orders of action. Injuctions and mandates.

Judge Greer is not just some administrative magistrate.
