Iraq's insurgents 'seek exit strategy'
By Steve Negus in Baghdad

Many of Iraq's pre-dominantly Sunni Arab insurgents would lay down their arms and join the political process in exchange for guarantees of their safety and that of their co-religionists, according to a prominent Sunni politician.

Sharif Ali bin al-Hussein, who heads Iraq's main monarchist movement and is in contact with guerrilla leaders, said many insurgents - including former officials of the ruling Ba'ath party, army officers, and Islamists - have been searching for a way to end their campaign against US troops and Iraqi government forces since the January 30 election.

"Firstly, they want to ensure their own security," says Mr Sharif Ali, who last week hosted a pan-Sunni conference attended by tribal sheikhs and other local leaders speaking on behalf of the insurgents.

Insurgent leaders fear coming out into the open to talk for fear of being targeted by US military or Iraqi security forces' raids, he said.

Mr Sharif Ali distinguishes many Sunni insurgents, whom he says took up arms in reaction to the invasive raids in search of Ba'athist leaders and other "humiliations" soon after the 2003 war, from the radical jihadist branch associated with Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Unlike Mr Zarqawi's wing of the insurgency, who are thought to be responsible for the big suicide bomb attacks on Iraqi civilian targets, the other Sunni insurgents are more likely to plant bombs and carry out ambushes against security forces and US troops active near their homes.

Mr Sharif Ali said the success of Iraq's elections dealt the insurgents a demoralising blow, prompting them to consider the need to enter the political process.

Soldiers Kill Seven Terrorists, Seize Weapons in Iraq

WASHINGTON, March 25, 2005 – U.S. soldiers have killed seven terrorists and seized weapons caches in Iraq, military officials in Baghdad reported today.
Task Force Liberty soldiers defeated a terrorist attack near Baqubah at about midnight today, killing three of the attackers. No coalition forces were injured in the attack, officials said, but they provided no further details.

Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, killed four terrorists who were trying to ambush Iraqi and multinational forces in northern Mosul on March 24. The U.S. soldiers also seized weapons that were the terrorists’ vehicles, including two AK-47 assault rifles, an automatic rifle, two hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenade parts and ammunition. No Multinational Force injuries were reported during the incident.

An engagement near Tal Afar resulted in soldiers from 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, seizing a number of weapons March 24. The soldiers returned fire on a vehicle following an attack and injured one terrorist. They detained another terrorist in the vehicle and found weapons that included an RPG launcher, three rifles and ammunition. The weapons were seized for future destruction, and no Multinational Force injuries were reported.

Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, discovered a large weapons cache during a March 24 search in southwestern Mosul. The cache included RPG rounds, a sniper rifle, an automatic rifle, two AK-47s, hand grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The weapons and ammunition were seized for future destruction. Various operations today yielded more weapons:

Soldiers from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), seized three large weapons caches in northern Iraq. No inventory of the weapons was immediately available.
Soldiers from 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, discovered a large weapons cache during a search operation in Tal Afar. The cache included 37 mortar rounds, 50 mortar fuses, an RPG round, RPG parts and a blasting cap.
Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, discovered another weapons cache in Tal Afar. The cache included 40 mortar rounds and 50 mortar fuses.
Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, seized a number of weapons from a vehicle during a search in western Mosul. The weapons seized included an RPG, four RPG rounds and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
In other news from Iraq, a suicide car bomb detonated March 24 at an entry-control point in eastern Ramadi. Initial reports indicate the blast killed six and wounded 19 members of the 2nd Iraqi Special Police Commandos, officials said. Two U.S. soldiers and two Iraqi civilians were injured.

Entry-control points began outside the provincial capital Feb. 20 at the request of the Iraqi government, officials said. Both Iraqi security forces and U.S. military personnel assigned to the 2nd Marine Division man the control points.

“These terrorist attacks will not deter the soldiers and Marines from accomplishing their mission,” said Brig. Gen. Joe J. McMenamin, assistant 2nd Marine Division commander. “This was an attack on Iraqi security forces who have sworn an oath to protect the citizens of Iraq.”

A detainee questioned about a recent improvised explosive device attack led Task Force Baghdad soldiers to two weapons caches March 24. The first site had IEDs, IED components, caller ID boxes and voltmeters. At the second location, the soldiers found two 160 mm rockets and ammunition. The soldiers continued to search the area and discovered a third weapons cache containing RPGs, night-vision goggles and recoilless rifles. Task Force Baghdad soldiers also found another weapons cache containing three mortar rounds and an IED trigger device.

Coalition forces from the 2nd Marine Division have detained a total of 147 suspected insurgents since taking the Anbar province security and stabilization reins from the 1st Marine Division on March 17.

“Over the past few months, 1st and 2nd Division … have pursued and captured many terrorists attempting to prevent a free Iraq,” said Col. Bob Chase, chief operations officer for the 2nd Marine Division. “These are criminals and murderers who display wanton disregard for their fellow Iraqis.”

Two Marine regimental combat teams and one Army brigade combat team that make up the division also have conducted numerous raids and operations over the last seven days, netting 14 mortar rounds; a 120 mm tank round; about 1,000 small-arms rounds; 66 rockets; 40 small arms of various types, including AK-47 assault rifles, shotguns, pistols and machine guns; Iraqi police and military uniforms; IED-making materials; and insurgent propaganda. “Tirelessly, our young Marines move through the countryside and deny the enemy solace, keeping him off-balance and under increasing pressure,” said Chase. The raids and operations were conducted throughout the province with the cooperation of the Iraqi security forces.

“Our main effort since our arrival in Al Anbar is to accelerate the training and partnering of the emerging Iraqi security forces,” Chase explained. The Iraqi forces provide what they call “eyes and tongues” that allow U.S. forces to discern foreign fighters and strangers, Chase said. “Most importantly,” he added, “they are able to interface with the locals and get information Iraqis might be unwilling to share with U.S. personnel for fear of repercussions from the terrorists. “We will stand with them until their forces are ready to stand alone and can protect themselves from those that fear a united Iraq.”

All the battalions from the Marine division have previously deployed in support of various operations around the globe, including service in Afghanistan, Haiti, the Horn of Africa and Iraq.

'48 operations in Waziristan’

LAHORE: Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Safdar Hussain has said 48 military operations have been carried out in the length and breadth of South Waziristan Agency and that the possibility of Osama Bin Laden being in one of the target areas cannot be ruled out, The Christian Science Monitor reported on Friday.

“Last year, thousands of military and paramilitary troops battled Al Qaeda militants and tribal supporters in South Waziristan Agency. The 48 military operations resulted in more than 500 deaths, including 304 foreign and local militants and around 200 troops,” it reported. “After three years of poking around caves, raiding compounds and getting the slip from motorbike mullas, the intelligence communities chasing Osama finally seem to know what they’re on the lookout for,” it added. “To find the world’s most wanted man, Pakistani forces are trying to spot signs of his elaborate security,” it reported. The paper quoted Lt Gen Hussain as saying that Osama was guarded by some 50 men, divided into concentric circles of security.

“Despite President Pervez Musharraf’s recent statement that Osama’s trail had gone cold, the hunt goes on,” it added.

It quoted Lt Gen Hussain as saying that he (the corps commander) was desperately looking for the signature of Osama’s security; because it was then he could declare victory. “Finding the signature means either I will get hold of him or I will kill him,” Lt Gen Hussain told the Monitor.

There was a ring of very close guards, there was an outer guard and then there was an inner guard, and also several circles, the Monitor quoted Lt Gen Hussain as saying. It quoted Lt Gen Hussain as saying that Osama’s group moved in caravans and dressed in women’s clothing to avoid detection by satellite. “Now I have also given orders that when every vehicle is checked, the women are asked to say something,” he told the Monitor.

Qatar finds house used to prepare suicide bombing   (al-Reuters)

DOHA - Qatari authorities have found the house used to prepare a suicide car bombing that killed a Briton at a theatre in the Gulf Arab state, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.A ministry statement carried on the state news agency QNA said the car had been rigged with explosives at the house before an Egyptian man rammed it into the theatre popular with Westerners last Saturday in the capital Doha.  It gave no further details on the investigation into the attack, the first in the energy-rich country which hosts the US Central Command that directed the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

A source close to the probe told Reuters the attack was ”sophisticated” and authorities were investigating whether the bomber acted alone. A government official has said it was too early to tell if Al Qaeda was involved. The US embassy in Doha urged its citizens to be vigilant and avoid public gatherings during the Easter holiday after an unknown group claimed responsibility for the bombing and vowed to hit churches and “crusader” military bases in the region. “The recent attack on our consulate in (the Saudi city of) Jeddah and now the suicide bombing here in Doha highlighted the capability and motivation of radical militant groups,” the embassy said in a message dated on Thursday.

The British mission said there was a “high threat of terrorism” in Qatar and advised its citizens to take security precautions. “Attacks could be indiscriminate and against Western, including British, interests.”
Qatar has boosted security around Western residential compounds and schools, some of which remained shut, after the bombing which wounded 16 people, mostly Arabs and Asians. The attack came two days after the suspected Al Qaeda leader in Saudi Arabia urged militants in Qatar and other Gulf states to wage holy war against “crusaders” in the region. Al Qaeda militants have staged attacks in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, where they targeted the US consulate in Jeddah three months ago killing five locally employed staff.

SV-While this attack certainly has gotten a lot of media play, let's try to keep some perspective.  One person was killed (and one terrorist pig).  It is a far cry from 9/11.

Three killed, two injured in Kashmir

Three persons, including two terrorists, were killed and two others injured in Jammu and Kashmir where one person was abducted and a terrorist laid down arms since Thursday night, a police spokesman said.

A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist identified as Mohammad Ashraf Padder was killed in an encounter with security forces during search operations at Lahan-Langanbal in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, the spokesman said.  He said security forces killed another terrorist at Rai Chak in Udhampur district on Thursday night and recovered a pistol and some ammunition from him.

The bullet-riddled body of Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat was recovered from his village at Dadsar in Pulwama district of south Kashmir early on Friday, the spokesman said. The residents of the village took to streets and clashed with police alleging that Bhat was shot dead by security forces during patrolling outside his house without any provocation on Thursday night.

Terrorists shot at and injured one Abdul Rashid Sheikh near his house at Chajhama in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Thursday night, the spokesman said. He said a mine blast occurred at Makri near Line of Control in Rajouri district last evening causing injuries to one Satpal Dass who was shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu for treatment.

So, they want to know how to get out of the "insurgency" they started, eh?

Simple. Stop shooting and blowing up other people.

On a recent thread, a list of "demands" was going to be presented by the sunnis. I don't think this will be particularly pleasant.

Iraq's insurgents 'seek exit strategy'

Insurgent leaders fear coming out into the open to talk for fear of being targeted by US military or Iraqi security forces' raids, he said.

Gee, I can't image why.

Al Yarmouk Hospital Attacked!

AlYarmouk Causality Department (ER) is one of the busiest hospitals in Baghdad.
It is attended by many poor and middle class people and the local population.

Following the Fatwa of the 26 Saudi ignorant and illiterate thugs last week the terrorist attacks increased on civilians and service sites every where in Iraq. One of the targets following that Fatwa is the ER department of the Al Yarmouk Hospital.

While the medical staffs were busy treating the injured civilians from the attack on two ancient Churches (Saint Mathew and Saint George Churches) in Baghdad a thug who responding to the devils' fatwa commit a suicidal car attack in the ER department!
The attack resulted in killing some of the hospital staffs, patients, and bypassed civilians turning their bodies into pieces. Part of the ER was damaged leading to transferring the patients and injured to other hospitals.

The car which was used to do this devilish act was stolen police car.

Can any animal in this planet agree with such acts as resistance? The answer is no because the animals are kinder creatures than some of the sub-animals and sub-devilish human being.

Here are some other actions of the thugs that the ignorant fools and low self-esteem dirty cockroaches describe them as resistance to liberate Iraq!:

-Attacking hospitals
-Attacking mosques like what happened to Imam Ali shrine and in Karbala
-Bombing Churches
-Killing Christians, Yazidis, Sabbians, and other Iraqi non-Muslims
-Killing the Iraqi Muslims especially Shias
-Kidnapping & killing workers in humanitarians organisation like for children
-Destroying the Iraqi wealth like the oil pipelines, power and water stations
-Kidnapping & killing hospital doctors, and university lecturers
-Imposing their mentally retarded way of thinking on the people
-Killing the visitors of the shrine of Imam Hussein
-Terrorising women and children

These people and any one support them have nothing to do with Islam and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) will definitely disown them if he is with us now and he will do so on the Day of Judgment. Their predecessors killed and beheaded his son Hussein!
He taught them before the principles of war is not to attack civilian, not to pull down a Church or a chapel or any other worship places, not to frighten a woman or a child or an elderly, not to damage or destroy a tree, to leave the farmer in his farm and the worker at his work, to treat the wounded and take care of them even if they are from the enemy, to treat the POW humanely and feed them from your food, and so on and so forth!

So, where are these thugs from Prophet Mohammad who when did the dialogue with the Christians of Najran handed them his Mosque to perform their Sunday prayer in it? Where are these thugs from Imam Ali who prayed in a Church and asked his follower to leave it for its own people and not touch it by any harm?

These people are wounded by a slander from and possessed by the devil and when he pushed them to commit their crimes he exonerate himself from it just prior to its final execution.

As it was described by the Holly Quran:

And when Satan made their deeds seem fair to them and said: No one of mankind can conquer you this day, for I am your protector. But when the armies came in sight of one another, he took Sight, saying: Lo! I am guiltless of you. Lo! I see that which ye see not. Lo! I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in punishmen (Quran: 8; 48)

whosoever killeth a human being for other than man slaughter or corruption in the earth , it shall be as if be had killed all mankind , and whoso saveth the life of one , it shall be as if he had : saved the life of all mankind . Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's sovereignty), but afterwards lo! Many of them became prodigals in the earth. (Quran: 5; 32)

On the other hand there should be no one taken by the deed of another person at all irrespective of the relation between them as we are seeing of kidnapping and killing relatives of other people to put pressure on them yet the victims have nothing to do with that. The Holy Quran said in this:

Each soul earneth only on its own account, nor doth any laden bear another's load. Then unto your Lord is your return and He will tell you that wherein ye differed (Quran: 6; 164)

Exit strategy?

It will be too late for quite a lot of them. They have been on the wrong path for too long. If they really want to exit that path, all murders and violence should just cease.
