Michael Schiavo has filed a petition with the Supreme Court asking them to stay out of the case.
It is just another part of this puzzle that makes no sense to a lot of us.

Starving her is not humane but starving her/feeding her/starving her/feeding her based on different rulings and opinions is 10000 times worse.
Nobody here at FR knows what that woman wants. Everything written in favor of keeping her alive is based on what we BELIEVE she wants.
And my personal opinion (and that's all it is, my opinion) is that I think we should let her go. I believe in Heaven and I know that she is better off there. If you disagree, that is your opinion.
That doesn't make either of us right or wrong.
That carries no weight in this case.
Look, it's a tragedy, but what's at the core of it are some bad laws, laws that the Florida legislature refused to undo yesterday...not bad judiciary.
Jeb and the legislature are busily trying to save face by laying the blame on the Courts.
I asked MineralMan (godless atheist) for a cite for that proposition, and he hasn't coughed one up yet. Maybe you are able to.

President Bush has always been straight up with his words.
Whether or not either Bush will be successful in saving Terri, this will only be the beginning, not the end, of the processes W has outlined.
Whether alive or a martyr, Terri will eventually be a major catalyst for the coming change(s) towards a culture of life.
I know it's difficult to be patient when there's such a tender life at stake, but patience, I think, is what we need.

Yes, it is. Obviously, it is not prosecuted. Dead letter law.
Michael Schiavo living in sin with another woman is morally outrageous, to be sure, but this apparently sways no courts. However, if it's actually ILLEGAL in Florida, then, this seems to be an obvious point of attack on his legal guardianship.
Why hasn't it been exploited? Can somebody who lives in Florida or has the right contacts, please do something about this?

Is the original judgement sealed??? Since Michael settled for substantially less than the original amount, it leads me to believe that there may be a substantial amount in escrow contingent on Terri's death. In my experience, that would be a great motivating factor on the part of the shark (attorney).
With regards to the judges. Silly mortals, don't you know that once a LAWYER is awarded the coveted black robe, they are automatically imbued with "jedi-like" powers that sets them above us, the unwashed masses. Part of that is need to defend a fellow judge at all cost. (9th Circus is exempt of course, it is the comedy relief for the Judicial)
I am not surprised that one black robe covers for another black robe. It is the way of things. If (a big if) there is ever another civil war in the US, I am willing to bet that it is instigated by some issue from a judge.

Never mind, I figured it out. The proper noun is "quoth," or rather cwað. It goes back to at least A.D. 1200. So that's the word that "purists" are defending against the Johnny-come-lately "quote." I can't keep up with this pre-Chaucerian Middle English, so I'll stick to the modern, if incorrect, usage.
I was curious about the "unanimous" decision. Normally doesn't the Justice (in this case Kennedy) make a decision as to whether to take it? Then it can go to three Justices? And only later to the full Court? I know I'm very fuzzy here, but does anyone know the procedural details?
