"I'm absolutely terrified as to what this will mean for us. The bar to having the plug pulled is substantially lowered. Suppose, for instance, someone had a stroke and couldn't speak. A relative who overheard that person saying they didn't want to live under these circumstances, is enough to have that person's life support - even if it is just food and water, taken away.
Regards, Ivan"
And yet on NPR this morning the "ethics" board from some hospital in NYC was bellyaching that the law passed by Congress on the weekend would somehow keep them from making these life-and-death decisions within the "privacy" of the family and ethics board's recommendations.
This is what the new media is giving us: it is shining the light of truth and justice on a world we previously did not know of or understand. And the god-doctors and god-lawyers don't like it. They want to be the gods of our lives.

Shiavo's lawyer has been spouting like he was accepting an Academy award or something.Despicable. Felos advising the Schindler family to just "reflect" on the situation.

Is "backwater" judge a part of your talking points memo? I've seen this phrase used almost as frequently as "Nobel Prize nominee" is used to describe Hammesfahr.
Pinellas County is a part of the Tampa Bay metropolitan area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in one of the most populous states in the country. How exactly does that translate to "backwater"?

Pay attention! The courts struck down a law passed by the FL legislature that would have saved Mrs. Schiavo. Also, Greer ignored a congressional supoeona.

GOVERNOR GREER
This is a coup d'etat. A judge in Florida has set himself up as Governor of the State.

Exactly. Please check the FR Home Page link on the March For Justice II on April 7.

"For Greer to deny DCF access to her records is just one more nail in his coffin along with Felos -- they are hiding something here and bet a thorough investigation will reveal Terri is not the only victim from these two vultures." I agree with that. I hope to see a thorough investigation of Felos, Greer and their connections to that hospice. And how in God's name does a patient who is not terminal get transferred to a hospice?
To: ConservativeMan55
The court did that out on their own, without this guy having to file anything.

Please join me in sarcastically referring to him as
"GOVERNOR" GREER. De-facto, (if not de-jure) he IS. He has usurped the Gubernatorial power of Jeb Bush.
And Jeb Bush is yet to reclaim it. It will take state troops to do that, as well as impeachment of Governor Greer.

Seamole, I'm old enough to remember the days when they honestly believed that infants up to a year didn't "really" feel pain, that crying was just a sort of reflex. In fact, my first dentist, when I was about 6 years old, did not give me anything for pain when he pulled a tooth that had been broken. His claim was that children didn't "really" feel pain. My mother felt he was the expert, but I sure knew better! (We did not return to that dentist.) Now, people insist Terri can't feel the pain of starvation. I suspect they are wrong, too.

You can be sure that defence attorneys in child abuse cases will cite this precedent.
I fear they will do the same here in Britain.

I reject the usage.
You can put "ain't" and such in the dictionary. Doesn't mean I'll recognize it.
Stinking liberal dictionary, anyway. Is it in the original Webster's?

This needs to go back to the initial day 15 years ago and an investigation of the activities of that evening and her medical condition investigated. If a crime was committed it needs to be investigated.

She gets transferred when those who have the power to have her moved into a hospice were expecting financial considerations out of Michael Schiavo's pot o' gold...
