A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

So, from all the break-neck developments this past week, I gather that Democrats favor waging an unrelenting War on Terror . . . excuse me, I meant a War on Terri. The War on Terror is the one they favor rolling back. Liberals passionately believe that delicate decisions like ending the life of a family member should be a personal family matter, a position strongly backed by Scott Peterson and O.J. Simpson.

Liberals vociferously oppose the death penalty except in cases where people can't feed themselves. Which is why Democrats can't wait to kill Terri. They even want to kill the Rain Man, but he's just a movie character. (In fairness, Liberals heatedly deny any killing is involved since people denied food and water die on their own.)

Since Terri is not a failed government program in Washington, the liberal approach to her is, 'End it, don't mend it'. Tax payers will shell out over $10 million so Scott Peterson can avoid lethal injection, but liberals are perfectly comfortable slow-killing a woman convicted of having a low I.Q.
Before Congress passed the new law Sunday, Terri had no right to federal court, since she's not a black-tailed prairie dog, terror suspect at Gitmo, serial killer, illegal alien, or Arab Muslim being starved and dehydrated by a "Christian" named Michael and a racist Southern judge. Democrats insist that Terri, who suffered brain damage when her breathing stopped temporarily, is in a 'persistent vegetative state' and is kept alive only by extraordinary means -- sorta like the U.N. These extraordinary means consist of food and water. Both are delivered via a super high-tech device called a feeding tube.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liberals maintain there's no chance of her coming out of her incapacitated state, that 15 years is a long time -- unlike the U.N., incapacitated for 60 years (lots of hope there!). The difference between being 'brain-dead' versus Terri's condition has been patiently explained to liberals about 256 million times, but the concept is just too hard for liberals to grasp (they also confuse 'right-to-die' with right-to-due-process) which makes me wonder who's really brain-dead here.
Terri laughs, tries to talk, reacts to playful attention from mom and dad, opens and shuts her eyes on command, can track a balloon and flashing lights, her head turns towards the speaker -- things any cucumber can do.
Neurologist William Hammesfahr, nominated for a Nobel Prize in medicine and among the doctors who actually treated Terri, told MSNBC Monday that, far from being in a persistent vegetative state, Terri is not even as bad off as kids with Cerebral Palsy you see in Malls riding in wheelchairs and using electronic straws. Dr. Hammesfahr noted Terri's condition is similar to cases in which patients can "stand up, or sit up" and "moan and make sounds that get their wishes known." He said that's Terri's condition right now -- a conclusion refuted by world renown physician, Robert Wexler.
Dr. Hammesfahr further noted that, in a persistent vegetative state, a "subset of coma," a "person looks like they're awake," but "is completely unaware of their surroundings," and utterly oblivious to reality -- a condition not unlike Dan Rather's.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The move by Congress to pass a bill -- initially stalled by loving and caring Democrats -- that let's Terri's parents ask a federal judge to keep their daughter from dehydrating to death was nothing more than "arrogance of unchecked power" by a Congress bloated with power, said Jerry Nadler, the bloated Congressman from New York.
"Congressional leaders have no business substituting their judgment for that of multiple state courts," complained legendary States' Rights advocate, Nancy Pelosi.
"I don't know who's right and who's wrong" in this battle, "but that's the point: Neither do my colleagues," said James Moran, a severely brain-damaged moron in Congress. When there's a dispute as to the best interests of an innocent person in a life and death case and there's no Living Will, we ought to err on the side of killing and avoid all the hassles, say liberals. Congress has no right to intervene. Government should mind its own business, like telling us whether to smoke, when to smoke, where to smoke, what to eat, how much, what to drive, regulating toilet size, managing Baseball, running family farms, handing out condoms, taking down the Ten Commandments.
Liberals say people living on feeding tubes have no quality of life and ought to die -- a position I'm sure will be popular with seniors in Florida.
Terri did not write a Living Will, but Florida Circuit Court Judge George Greer miraculously divined her true wishes not to remain on life-support which she isn't on. He did this by using the same experts who 'divined' voter intent in the Florida recount. And relying on what Michael says were Terri's wishes -- after all, he is her husband and Congress should respect the marriage contract. It's so heartening to see liberals suddenly discover the sanctity of marriage. Maybe now we can pass a Constitutional Amendment. Liberals now profoundly believe in the sanctity of marriage. Just like Michael, who loves marriage so much, he ran off with some skank just so he can have another one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To help him reach an impartial decision, Judge Greer relied on medical testimony by euthanasia fans like Minnesota University neurologist Ronald Cranford, who asserted Terri has no conscience, so people with conscience should get rid of her. Cransford told Fox News on Tuesday that Alzheimer's patients need to go, too.
Judge Greer is legally blind and he's never actually visited Terri, even though he could do so with help from his seeing-eye dog, Michael Schiavo.
Days after the feeding tube was yanked and after an extraordinary session of Congress capped by the President flying back to Washington to sign the measure into law, U.S. District Court Judge James Whittemore treated the case with the urgency it deserves by putting off a hearing until the afternoon of the following day -- Monday (it was too late to cancel his date at the Golf course). Doctors say Terri could live up to two weeks before she dehydrates and starves to death -- a death the MSM assure us will be painless, even peaceful. Unlike the excruciating torture of experiencing a panty on your head at Abu Ghraib, the experience of being starved and dehydrated "is really pretty benign," Dr. Joanne Lynn, a hospice physician, told ABC News. Dr. Fred Mirarchi, assistant clinical professor at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, noted that the "process of starving (someone) to death" only seems "barbaric but in actuality is very peaceful," a view staunchly backed by noted medical authorities like Mengele, Oberheuser, Clauberg, Kremer and Brandt -- the NAZI "healers".
Nothing like dehydration and starvation if you wanna get 'high'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As you know, Judge Whittemore ultimately ruled against the Schindlers, refusing to order reinsertion of Terri's feeding tube and refusing Congress's request for a plenary review of the case. The ruling by this Clinton-appointee came after holding a brief, hour-long hearing, followed by feverish activity involving a sauna, T-Bone steak, salad, apple Martinis and another round of Golf.

This morning, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta essentially rubber-stamped Whittemore's ruling. The panel, issuing their 2-1 decision, said "there's no denying the absolute tragedy that has befallen Mrs. Schiavo," but rules are rules, no feeding tube, so drop dead. Back to the Golf course!
Next step is a ruling by the full court, unless the Schindlers take it directly to the Supremes. Wasn't clear at press time.
Democrats say they fervently pray for Terri. If she loses her battle and her parents are left to bury her, those "prayers" will be "answered". But it'll be a Pyrrhic victory. Taking Terri off Schindler's list only comes at a steep price politically. Write that down.

Anyway, that's...
My two cents

Thank you for the essay, John. I finally got a chance to sit down and read it today.

"Liberals now profoundly believe in the sanctity of marriage. Just like Michael, who loves marriage so much, he ran off with some skank just so he can have another one."

One of my random thoughts yesterday - and I don't know if this has been addressed elsewhere - but I started wondering what would have happened if a court-appointed guardian filed for divorce on behalf of Terri.

She never had her own lawyer to represent her. The husband and the parents have legal representation except her.

I was watching FOX news this afternoon after I posted my thought, and the issue of whether Terri could get a divorce came up. The person that was being interviewed said that she could get a divorce if a guardian filed for her. However, Michael is her guardian.

I just got here and saw your ping - I've been in and out today, but I keep checking out the latest development.

I saw this earlier, take a look.... Terri Wanted Divorce Before Accident

However, Michael is her guardian.

That's the best way to keep things under control.

Dear FRiends,
Through your faith and sharing, you have helped me to try to see the Lord's way in using this evil event unfolding before the nation. I am having a hard time fighting feelings of hatred toward Michael Schiavo and I do not want to be judging him. I so much wanted to see the mother and father allowed to take their daughter into the sunshine and let her hear music and her loved ones voices soothing her. Terri will soon be out from under the control of Michael Schiavo. I don't want to waste another moment of my life thinking about Michael and the people that can so easily dismiss Terri and her family and accept the abuse Terri has been exposed to for so long. God bless all of you and thank you for your witness.

The Schiavo situation is unjust and it's hard for anyone who loves justice to watch this take place. It's in Gods hands so there is hope.

Happy Easter.
