State officials say they are considering removing Terri Schiavo from hospice, by force if necessary, despite numerous court orders upholding the removal of the artificial nutrition tube that has kept her alive for 15 years.
Lucy Hadl, secretary of the Department of Children and Families, said Wednesday morning that her staff is relying on a state law that gives the department the authority to intervene on behalf of a vulnerable adult who is 'suffering from abuse or neglect that presents a risk of death or serious physical injury.'
Hadl said that the DCF would have to file a petition in order to remove Schiavo, but that 'it doesn't mean we'd have to have judicial approval in advance of taking the action if we believed it met the threshold for doing it.'
Hadl said that seven years of court rulings backing Schiavo's husband Michael, in his contention that Terri Schiavo did not wish to be kept alive artificially would not stop the DCF from taking action.
'We're not compelled to look at prior judicial proceedings,' Hadl said.
What we are compelled to look at is the presenting circumstances and any allegiations of abuse and neglect that we have recieved. So we have to deal with those and fufill out statutory responsibility.'

From what I've read, you're right about "fair hearing." There've been a lot of trials, but no justice.
I just don't see the exit strategy, the long-term plan.

I hope you are right. I just saw Michael's brother on Nancy Grace show. He lied, saying that her parents could visit and comfort her anytime they want to and that her lips are being kept moist.

FYI, according to CNN, a judge has already filed an injunction prohibiting DCF from doing anything.
Okay--say DFCS comes to get Terri accompained by State Police.
What is the worst thing Greer can do at that moment? Issue a warrant against DFCS or Jeb? Is that where his power ends?
The State Police are under Jeb's total control?

This is one of the saddest pictures I have ever seen. It is also one that makes me the most angry. The fact that our society has become so depraved that a youngster, who is showing the compassion for another human, compassion we all try to instill in our children, is carted off in handcuffs. We have become a disgusting society that will only be saved by the grace of GOD because we are to foolish to save ourselves. SAD!
Just thinking, What if the Judge orders Terri removed from the facility to an un-disclosed location?
Would we put it past these people from doing it?

Like I said she died fifteen years ago. Her brain has turned into liquid, it's over.
Dumb Question, but after following this case for a few years, I'm still not clear on this. . .As far as I know, Terri has never been on life support. How then can her so called "husband" make the decision to have her feeding tube removed? I thought that the question here was should "she be removed from life support?", and in that case, the argument might be made by him that that is what she wanted.(however unlikely that is)
Legally, how has it been determined that a person in Terri's situation must have the feeding tube taken out when she is not on life support?
No and what does that have to do with anything?
