DCF Considers Removing Schiavo from Hospice by Force
Palm Beach Post ^ | 3.23.05 | Dara Kam

State officials say they are considering removing Terri Schiavo from hospice, by force if necessary, despite numerous court orders upholding the removal of the artificial nutrition tube that has kept her alive for 15 years.

Lucy Hadl, secretary of the Department of Children and Families, said Wednesday morning that her staff is relying on a state law that gives the department the authority to intervene on behalf of a vulnerable adult who is 'suffering from abuse or neglect that presents a risk of death or serious physical injury.'

Hadl said that the DCF would have to file a petition in order to remove Schiavo, but that 'it doesn't mean we'd have to have judicial approval in advance of taking the action if we believed it met the threshold for doing it.'

Hadl said that seven years of court rulings backing Schiavo's husband Michael, in his contention that Terri Schiavo did not wish to be kept alive artificially would not stop the DCF from taking action.

'We're not compelled to look at prior judicial proceedings,' Hadl said.

What we are compelled to look at is the presenting circumstances and any allegiations of abuse and neglect that we have recieved. So we have to deal with those and fufill out statutory responsibility.'

Maybe the Lord wants Terri to come home...out of her brain dead shell of a body so that she can be free...

Ever think of it that way?

Probably a disruptor.

I like that term better than "troll". Something about the word "disruptor" I guess...

It makes no sense to use violence to save Terri - no sense ending lives to save a single life. Civil disobedience should be done though, any law that allows for the murder and torture of an innocent American is worse than a law allowing slavery and worse than a law allowing discrimination of people based on their skin color. Life is the most basic right given by the Constitution and the courts have even taken that away from Terri. I applaud the guy who got arrested yesterday and the kid today who were jailed for standing up for life.

Gov. Jeb Bush takes Terri into protective custody --- That's Deliverance !!!

Who is he gonna make squseal like a pig.

A court order was just issued specifically prohibiting the Floriduh CPS or whatever it is called from attempting to take custody of her or reinsert her feeding tube.

Its not only appalling, its frightening!

Some of these people seem to be in favor of mob rule. I think this whole case will set back the pro-life movement greatly.

Cases like this go on daily. Is the Federal government now going to be involved in each and every one of these?

How many healthy, normal, cognitive babies were aborted today?

No intervention by President Bush, no special session of Congress, no fiery speeches by Tom Delay and no outrage by the pro-life movement either!

Let this poor women's agony on this earth end and let her finally meet her Maker as we all will, one day!

I am sick of hearing nutcases calling for unconstitutional shows of force in this case!

The Lord takes people in HIS own time, he isn't the one taking terri, there are those that are PUSHING HER out of life.

Conservatives will have no moral ground for screaming "RuleofLaw" when the next mayor or governor autonomously legalizes homosexual marriage.

Forget it. The pro-Terri side has gone over the edge. Any such arguments are lost on them.

Ah yes you would much rather have a Vermont, where the screaming idiots in black robes ordered the legislature what to legislate and they bent over.

Another neurologist has said that Terri was possibly misdiagnosed.

But .. FOX just said some judge has already issued an order STOPPING THE DCF FROM TAKING HER.

So .. they should have just taken her instead of telling the public what they were going to do - when will these people figure this out - you DON'T TELL YOUR ENEMY WHAT YOU'RE PLANNING TO DO. SURPRISE IS THE ULTIMATE!!

I'd make that a group of four, and add Jodi Centonze to the list. Who knows how much of this travesty is due to her desire for MS to be a self-made widower rather than a divorcee, since only the former would "entitle" her to a wedding in a Catholic church? She may not care overmuch for the churche's teachings on extramarital sex and adultery-but by gad, she wants that big wedding and the fairy tale princess gown .(Which will probably be white-and with her two out-of-wedlock children in the ceremony as ringbearer and flower strewer, perhaps.)

"Maybes" are cheap. We should not base life-and-death decisions on "maybes". Even if God wants someone to die, that does not ever give us the right to starve that person to death.

It is being reported on another thread that Felos has also said he will bring assault and battery charges against anyone who tries to get Terri....

The two little death ghoul is all bluster. Any DCF employee's or police would be acting ENTIRLEY within their statutory rights and authority!
