Is Terri a person with constitutional rights?
3/23/05 | syriacus

1. Dr. Cranford said, to Hannity last night, that PVS persons have no constitutional rights.

2. Cranford has said that Terri is PVS

Question:
Does Terri have the constitutional right to ask to be starved to death?

Hannity did a great job but that's not helping Terri this morning.

Maybe "helping" her foundation could help her.

we can still write to President Bush, Gov. Bush and Bill Frist. Ask then to send in marshalls to enforce those supoenas. If you haven't written or called anyone over this issue please do it NOW
email President Bush – president@whitehouse.gov
Governor Bush – jeb.bush@myflorida.com
Bill Frist - http://frist.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=AboutSenatorFrist.ContactForm

PS, ...and while we are wringing our hands in frustration with judges, and the court system, Terri comes closer and closer to the end that michael and the courts are determined should be her lot. Oh would I love to see the film at 11 when Terri testifys on this very situation before the court that really matters. I will be the first to recant my position when she says my husband did my bidding.

Will do. Thanks for providing the contacts, MomwithHope. I've contacted a lot of people, but I hadn't yet asked for the marshals to be sent in. These will be my first requests for that.

SeanEBoys comments have arrogant teenager written all over them and since his or her particulars are nowhere to be found, I don't feel any obligation to believe one word other than this is one more person delighting in this particular court decision design to bring a slow but sure end to someone of damaged mind and body.

It's much easier to bloviate than to actually DO something.

I really like MomwithHope's idea of emailing President Bush, Gov. Bush, and Sen. Frist to ask that the marshals be sent in.

Brings back fond memories of Eisenhower's presidency

Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas
The Eisenhower Administration responded - and with a great deal of foresight - to the fact that U.S. marshals were the logical instruments to enforce public school integration.  As more and more efforts to integrate public schools in the South resulted in strident white opposition, the Eisenhower Justice Department began training a sizable group of U.S. marshals to be used in the South.  Herbert Brownell's successor as attorney general, William Rogers, trained an elite crew of 600 marshals whose significance reached well beyond the Eisenhower years.

When President John Kennedy needed marshals to enforce school integration at the University of Mississippi and the University of Alabama in the early 1960s, he was able to draw on the elite crew of U.S. marshals trained under Eisenhower.

Hope you don't mind if I stay at my keyboard while I email those folks.

I think the bigger question should be why the hypocricy in the courts? They claim to not want hearsay evidence when it comes to statements against schiavo, yet the court accepts his hearsay that Terri wanted to die. Being estranged and involved romantically with another woman, his opinion should equal spit.

Other than a prayer for Terri, I feel as helpless now as I did watching a certain "compound" in Waco, Texas go up in flames. Only the final numbers are slightly different, but just wait a while. I'm sure there are those who remember the line that doctors are more dangerous than automobile accidents ie they kill far more people, well the end result of this baby, is judges will eclipes doctors, faster than ZOT!

You make it sound like all the doctors who examined TSerri diagnosed her as PVS. That is untrue.

The most experienced neurologist, and the one whospent the most time with her found that she was definitely NOT PVS.

Now, one thing about PVS is that if a person shows awareness and responsiveness only 10% of the time, the are NOT PVS.

If a doctor exaamines a patient for only a few minutes and that time happens to be a time when the patient is not aware, an incorrect diagnosis can be reached.

Its like looking at a sleeping person and drawing conclusions about what that person would be like in the waking state.

Your sarcasm and off-hand dismissal of the true state of affairs reveals you to be a person of stunted humanity. I PITY YOU.

I agree in principle, but they should not be federal marshals.

They ought to be Florida State Police under the command of Jeb Bush.

Another article states the people in PVS do not feel pain. That really lets Terri out since she was given pain medication. I wonder why........

That is the rule of law.

Horsepucky. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Someone on this thread speculated that you are a teenager. I can't say, but I actually suspect a pre-teen.

Hannity did a most excellent job at flushing this guy out and exposing him as a 'kill the useless feeders' advocate.

Sean didn't take no bs from this doctor. He told the doctor flat that he (the doctor) examined Terry only for 45 minutes and that the doctor who was on his show on Monday evening had examined her for 10 hours

It used to be the Rule of Law to own slaves too but it was WRONG then just as it would be wrong now. Just because something is legal does not mean it is right.

Why do you think laws change? I bet that there will be some changes to guardianship laws where unfaithful spouses will not have absolute say in life or death decisions.

Thanks for explaining.

I'm thinking that,

if Michael testifies before Congress,
someone should ask Michael if he was abusing steroids (around the time Terri collapsed).

That seems to be a legitimate question for congresspeople to ask lately.
