Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.
No, I think Jeb said that Greer made his decision based on a PVS dignosis, and Terri is minimally conscious.
He said the DCF has a mandate, and can just take custody - but I'm not sure if that's dependent on the legislature. It's NOT dependent on Greer.
It makes me very sad that you would care more for what you call "the rule of law" than for regard to the life a brain-damaged woman who has done nothing to harm anyone. Her life and the protection of it by government is the basis of all American law - self-evident.
Right, so basically we're down to the SCOTUS (unlikely) and the FL legislature. This is so nerve wracking. Praying hard.
It doesn't change the issue that this is Florida's business, not the federal government.
It is Jeb Bush, not George that has the power in this instance, it is the Florida legislature, not the Federal.
This is a clear cut case of abuse of federal power. All that remains is for George Bush to send in the national guard like Eisenhower did after Brown vs Board of Education.
This is a violation of state's rights.
Greer had better watch his step on this one. He's supposed to be on the side of "truth" not just purely "death." This could be a double-edged sword for him. The way Jeb is handling this he may not have a choice but to re-order a review of evidence.
amen.... hey stranger things have happened..even pharoah's heart was eventually softened once..
Then that would make Jeb wrong that they can take her in custody now.
Well sure. Everybody knows a governor is just a figurehead. He gets dusted off for funerals and ribbon-cuttings, that's about all.
no do not call
I agree do not call...these people are trying to help Terri
Amen!
I love the chaplet of Divine Mercy!
Kitty Mittens,
I hesitate to post this for fear you will all think I'm losing it. But this is what I've been going through the last 2+ hours. I have been sitting at the computer reading all your posts for an hour.
I went into my closet when the Legislature began to debate.
I pleaded and begged God to spare Terri. I wept and repented for my disobedience toward Him. I began to feel, after 20 minutes, God begin to calm my sprit and tell me he loves me. And to go back to the computer. I know this sounds crazy but I felt Him say, "Watch what I will do."
I also felt Him say, "Be still and know that I am God". So I haven't spoken a word since. I did not feel I should type thoughts, either.
I thought it was the FL Legislature but maybe it's meant to
be the DFC.
Keep praying.
Yes, God-of-Angel-Armies, go before us into this battle! Rule from Your throne in Heaven. Direct the events of this battle in ways we could not think or imagine. Show forth Your mercy. Display Terri's life and true condition for all to see. Expose the lies and the liars. Yeshua!
Section 415 1051 DFC can take custody.
I have been listening to Hannity, too.
what do you not understand about of the people, for the people, by the people. We think they are murdering innocent disabled people and that they are ignoring the rule of law. I don't care what state it is in, we will stand up for those that cannot speak for themselves.
Otherwise this is a sham and a CYA gambit. It needs Greer's permission. That's how they got to this point. Needing Greer's permission for everything. That's why Terri is dying of thirst.
yeah and you guys know about DFC, you just give them a call and say someone is being abused and they come and haul your kids away...so I am sure they took this very seriously
it you look at the federalist papers, or instead - 200+ years of clear law (sans brown vs board of education) you will see where I am correct.
The individuals rights are protected and defined by the state, except where defined provided by the constitution.
unless you make a case why Schiavo's constitutional rights have been violated - you have no out here.
Still, even in that instance it does not excuse the federal government's legislative and executive branch involvement. Both are clear violations here.
This is how the system works, like or it not - if you want a different system then ammend the constitution either the federal one, or more likely - Florida's state constitution to allow for this.
But until then, this is all very illegal.
