News flash from ABC: Cookies are not health food, anonymous sources say.
Peter Jennings said on March 18s World News Tonight that someone made a connection between Girl Scout cookie sales and obesity.
Someone raised an issue we hadnt thought of before, Jennings said. Acting on this news tip, we asked our medical correspondent, John McKenzie, for his take on this, he said.
What followed was a series of interviews titled Cookie Controversy with anti-junk-food spokespeople and a doctor saying that cookies are unhealthy, leading to the conclusion that the Girl Scouts of the USA really are not very nice for selling them.

While Dick Jennings gets to dine on fine alcohol, fatty foods, run around in a multimillion dollar home.....and tell us what's good for us.
And the execs at ABCNNBCBS wonder why their ratings are flatter than Kansas. Go figure.
That's America for ya ...put the blame on someone other than ones self. It's not the Girl Scouts it's the fact that you ATE 3 BOXES!

The will get my Girl Scout cookies when they pry them from my cold, dead hands.
Or maybe we are making our selves fat by not practicing restraint and self control - two ideas that might as well be written in Sanscrit as far as the left is concerned.
I saw this piece of tripe propoganda editorial pretending to be news and was once again reminded, broadcast "jornalism" has about as much to with news as candy canes have to do with nuclear disarmament.
The editors and producers should be dragged through the streets for even giving this nonsense airtime.
I usually just make a donation.
If ya don't bring 'em home ya can't eat 'em! LOL
I've been telling the parents of the Girl Scouts that they should sell them after Easter!
I don't know about the rest of America but in my area most folks give up sweets for Lent! LOL
What are Girl Scout cookies, perhaps 0.0001% of the junk food market? Let's blame vending machines if you want to put the blame where the real abuse is.
When Girl Scout Cookies are outlawed, only outlaws will have Girl Scout Cookies.
You can have my Thin Mint's when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers!
Evil mean cookie bearing girls have been taking a hammering in the media the last few months.
Wouldn't you think that someone (maybe Peter Jennings) would just say, this is too stupid and embarrassing to read? Maybe someone should point out the connection to obesity and TV watching, and suggest that "World News Tonight" should be pulled off the air... they "aren't very nice" to tempt people into watching TV when they could be exercising, right?
Serving size: 4 cookies
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
If it was the boy scouts who made hundreds of millions from cookie sales, I'm sure "we" would have thought of raising the issue long ago.
There aren't girl scouts in them!
Frauds!
