Doug Wead was on FNC tonight. (Weasel Alert)
Fox New Channel | 3/21/2005

I caught the tail end of Hannity and Colmes tonight and saw Doug Wead wildly trying to save the sales of his book on Bush.

It seems that on one page of his book, Wead claims that Bush admitted to taking cocaine.

Of course...HE HAS NOTHING THAT SHOWS THAT BUSH ACTUALLY ADMITTED THAT.

Even the tapes released do not have that. The issue is talked about as a hypothetical for others....but not at the part where Bush stated he would not want kids trying what he tried.

Wead has gone beyond pathetic.

At one point he claimed that during the whole deal...he reached a point where he wondered if he wanted to live any longer. Obviously pushing for the sympathy line.

I guess he thinks that if he shuffles his feet and stares at the floor singing "pity me", then people will feel bad for him and buy his book.

He also claimed that he got word that Bush had forgiven him for the weasel stuff he pulled.

When pressed on the issue, he changed his line to the...'Well, I can speak for the President' line.

During the interview he contradicted himself several times. As he did in the NY TIMES piece.

Wead's 15 seconds of shame....er, uh....fame are over.

He seems to lack integrity.

He is no gentleman. To be a gentlman, he would also have to be a man. Wead misses the mark on both.

Remember how the media treated another person who recorded phone calls etc? Her name was Linda Tripp and she was treated as the devil incarnate. Wead is treated with kid gloves while the media tries to get dirt on Bush.

Even if Bush did do cocaine at one point, so what? It's not like he's doing it in office, as we can probably suspect of Clinton (both of them). Unlike what the drug warriors want you to think, doing cocaine doesn't turn you into a raving lunatic or a zombie; it is quite regularly administered in medical settings and I assure you if it did cause permanent effects the lawyers would put a stop to it very quickly.

Who he once was is no more than a historical curiosity; it's who he is now that matters. And who he is now is a man humble enough that even though he is the President of the United States and need never stand for election again, cut short his own schedule to honor the work of Congress and give a deserving woman a new opportunity to live.

I don't know.

To me, it looks like he released the tapes to sell the book, then a light clicked on in his head that it was a traitorous thing to do. I think he really is sorry, but he's is also going for a bit of sympathy like you say.

He knew what he was doing from the get go.

He even said that he was the one who chose what tapes to release to the public.

The dude pretty much got canned from working for the Senior GBUSH and the Current GBUSH.

And it was known that he was bitter about it.

And it was his own fault he got canned/told he was not needed as an advisor anymore.

His comments in public were, at times, not well thought out.

Yes, a light certainly did click on.....after he was peppered with questions regarding his motives, and his integrity was called into question and scrutinized. I believe he envisioned a lovefest over his book and did not expect such an overwhelming response of suspension and distrust amongst Americans
