Bolton Nomination Fight Expected to Get Ugly

Susan Jones
Morning Editor

(CNSNews.com) - Supporters of John Bolton are bracing for a "big and ugly" confirmation battle over his nomination as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Move America Forward, a group that wants to evict the United Nations from U.S. soil, is trying to counteract a "stop Bolton" campaign by going in the opposite direction -- urging Americans to express their "strong and enthusiastic support" for Bolton's nomination.

"Americans have had enough of the fraud, corruption and anti-Americanism that has overrun the United Nations," said Melanie Morgan, co-chair of Move America Forward.

"We admire John Bolton's track record of fighting to put America's interests first, and his willingness to take a direct and tough approach against those who threaten America's security and national interests," Morgan added.

The "Stop Bolton" campaign was launched by Citizens for Global Solutions, and dozens of left-leaning organizations and websites have now joined the anti-Bolton effort. That includes MoveOn.org, which is urging its members to "call your Senator today and ask him to vote against John Bolton as U.N. Ambassador.""

A report in Monday's Washington Times said Democrats predict Bolton will face tough grilling when he appears before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee -- probably in early April.

The Washington Times reported that senators from both parties believe Bolton will have to explain his past comments about the U.N. being useless.

Indeed, Bolton has never shied away from defending American interests and speaking out against the problems at the U.N., said Howard Kaloogian, co-chair of Move America Forward.

"At a time when some failed politicians were calling for a 'global test' to determine American foreign policy decisions, John Bolton has been unabashedly fighting to ensure that the United States makes decisions based on what's good for our own nation," he said.

Move America Forward noted that during the first year of the Bush administration, it was Bolton who notified the United Nations that the U.S. would not abide by the International Criminal Court, which severely eroded American sovereignty, the Bush administration said.

Bolton also has annoyed liberals with his strident opposition to the policies of the U.N., Move America Forward said.

In a 1994 speech, Bolton said, "There is no United Nations. There is an international community that occasionally can be led by the only real power left in the world... the United States."

Melanie Morgan warned that the Bolton confirmation hearings are likely to be some of the ugliest ever seen in the U.S. Senate.

"When John Bolton stood up to the nuclear-weapons-toting regime in North Korea, the terrorist-supporting [North Korean] leadership called Bolton 'human scum.'

"John Bolton will be lucky to be treated any better by U.S. senators who oppose his nomination, Morgan said. "The John Kerry and Ted Kennedy crowd just don't understand how wrong they are or how fed up the American people are with their 'Blame America First' hysterics," she added.

Move America Forward's "Support John Bolton" campaign plans to produce and air television commercials on national television networks. And it is urging Americans to lobby senators involved in Bolton's confirmation hearing.

"I was joshin with ya!! "

Thank goodness!!! I am very blessed for the most part with our Missouri representation, that is except for my Congressman. He is a liberal Reverend, and will probably give Jesse Jackson a run for his money.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! The left cannot even get liberal Lincoln to go along with their hatemongering! BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

At least you have senators, I'm from California.

Well, I was going to say the same thing, but for some reason I think I'm better off NOT having senators, I would probably end up with a twit like Boxer...

Is there a transcript of the confirmation hearings that anyone has found? Or just the audio at CSPAN?

It is amazing to read how Bolton's bigggest opponents on the Foreign Relations Committee are the vile, racist Serbophobes Biden and Dodd.

John Bolten is pro-Serbian, and advocates a free Republika Srpska and the partition of Kosovo. Could the savage opposition to Bolten by Biden and Dodd (with Kerry butting in as well) be motivated by their Serbophobic bigotry?

>>>>>>>It is amazing to read how Bolton's bigggest opponents on the Foreign Relations Committee are the vile, racist Serbophobes Biden and Dodd.<<<<<<

Biden and Dodd are Soros' trojan horses. They are rabid Ant-Serbs. What is really troublesome is their anti-American activity:

...The key story here was not that the mullahs and their cohorts in America were dissembling – that was old news. What this event signaled was that George Soros and the American far left were ready to spend millions more supporting America's enemies, including radical Islamic extremists from a terror-supporting rogue state like Iran.

"Soros is once again showing his true colors," Timmerman wrote. "He is anti-American, anti-freedom and pro-tyranny, for America and for America's friends overseas."

Hassan Nemazee, as we have seen earlier, one of John Kerry's top fund-raisers in his 2004 presidential campaign, was a board member of the American-Iranian Council. Nemazee has funded a long list of Democratic Party candidates, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden.

At every event where Democratic candidates have been present, the AIC has been certain to press its agenda to get the mullahs back their economic and diplomatic recognition.

Rush is almost thinking the same thing right now. He's thinking about packing up and living on a remote island somewhere. It's been a rough three weeks for everyone in politics.

[Iranian islamist fifth columnist] Hassan Nemazee, as we have seen earlier, one of John Kerry's top fund-raisers in his 2004 presidential campaign, was a board member of the American-Iranian Council. Nemazee has funded a long list of Democratic Party candidates, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden.

I don't call her Hillary Rodham Izetbegovic Khomeini just to be cute!!!! Sen. Khomeini is a long-time Iranian shill, as well as shilling for other islamist nations and movements. Biden and Dodd, etc. are no better, they just aren't as high-profile. I consider Iran the most dangerous country in the world, by the way.

Soros is behind the scenes in all of this, to make big bucks and to promote his evil international-fascist world order. The Sink Emperor and his vile consort would of course be the rulers of this New World Order, with Soros and his children and the other financial malefactors pulling the strings. (Note that nearly all the hedge-fund operators supported Kerry.)

The Democrats used to stand for the interests of the common American, but that has not been true for a decade or more. They should be ashamed of themselves, and turn to Christ for forgiveness!!!!

Maybe someone can tell me why the GOP is so insistent on a vote for Presidential nominees but yet let Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Jesse Helms not even consider William Weld as Ambassador to Mexico because he didn't prosecute enough drug crimes as a federal prosecutor? William Weld was a Clinton nominated appointee who was screwed by his own GOP party and not only denied a vote on the Senate floor, but denied a hearing in committee.

While I agree ALL presidential appointees deserve an up or down vote, I see no virtue in the GOP. They are (almost) as bad as the other side.

I just faxed Voinovich a message with good Serbian-American reasons to support Bolton.

Blessed Holy Week and Pascha to you!

I sent Voinovich several emails detailing why he should support Bolton. We shall see. It angers me to see so-called Greek Americans like Sarbanes and Snowe undermine this appointment. Glad to see Sarbanes quit. Good riddance.

Hristos Voskrese to our Serbian Orthodox friends.
