US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

What are your credentials? Are you a neurologist?

I suggest that you go to the Congressional Record and read Senator (Doctor) Bill Frist's speech at the end of the day on Thursday. Then tell me about PVS.

the law presumes do all in the absence of an advaced directive or facts to the contrary. (facts as in evidence.)

Perhaps a proper reform in FL is to make the standard beyond a reaonsalbe doubt NOT the present preponderance of the evidence.

Christopher Shays just said that, "this body (Congress) has the ability to prevent every death which is occurring minute-by-minute around the globe, so why are we concentrating only on this one life (Terri Schiavo)?"

Shays is one of the most despicable human beings I have ever laid eyes on. He is considered by the DNC the "most vulnerable" GOP Congressman for 2006 and I truly hope that that scumbag finally gets retired. He may have sealed his fate tonight.

the Dems call this a "right-to-die" case."

And they should feel right at home while Dr. Kevorkian serves them 'tea'.

And as usual, their propaganda is wrong. This is a right to murder case. The Dims want the right to murder anyone they find uncomfortable or unsightly. Funny how they scream about Bush being Hitler. Every time I turn around the Dims are the ones trying to reimpose Nazi programs. Anyone remember Hitler's "euthanasia" program for Germany "useless mouths" in the late 1930s?

Chris,

I state flatly I would NOT want to live in the state Terri is in.

However, there is simply no evidence Terri would have wanted to die. All we have is her husband's claim, and just take a look at his mansion to see where all his settlement money went (by the way, the judge did not order him to account for his settlement funds like what is normally required.)

He didn't spend money on Terri once he got his settlement.....immediately after.....7 YEARS AFTER TERRI'S ACCIDENT AND AFTER MICHAEL FIRST CLAIMING HE WOULD DO EVERYTHING HE COULD FOR TERRI WITH NO MENTION OF HER DESIRE TO DIE......SUDDENLY HE CHANGES HIS MIND ONCE HE GETS THE DOUGH.

That is very suspicious. I don't trust Michael.

Not to mention affidavits of girlfriends, including one whom he started dating 1.5 years after Terri's accident, that say he was abusive toward them. This woman, Cindy Shook, says Michael even told her his wife never discussed wishes regarding removal of feeding tube or other similar medical issues.

Really is scarey when you stop to think about what might be happening in these so called hospice hospitals -- unlike any hospice I have ever heard of.

One interesting thing is that DU seems unusually quiet about this event.

Interesting observation. I wonder if even they have family members in difficult situations or if they find it difficult to pass a death sentence on an innocent lady.
