The whole situation is just plain awful.

Next time someone calls you a murderer or a Nazi (of all d*** things!), hit the abuse button.
I was called a "sick puppy," & a "troll," but I let it slide.
I won't do it again!, the next time someone accuses me of being something I'm not.

What diff does it make what Michael Schiavo did for a living? Am I missing something here?
To: marajade
They refused to hear it. That's what I thought .. thanks

And I could be wrong .. but I believe the USSC didn't hear the case ..The case was brought to the USSC and they dropped it back into the Florida courts hands because they didn't want to trample on Florida's Laws and Florida State Constitution.

OK. I understand. I got on my soapbox about the Schindlers, didn't I? (Didn't I just say the other day that I was NOT going to do that?) I guess this case really hits home to so many and there are a great deal of emotions on both sides. I even told Hildy that she had a good point- Living wills are very important. And if Hildy and I can agree on something- then not all bad has come about on these threads! :]

I know. But the question for me is still out there... am I missing something here?
To: Mo1
Just because someone disagree with us .. it doesn't make them a trollPeople have the freedom to disagree with me. They also have the freedom to be an idiot. Those freedoms happen to coincide.

Michael went back to school and became a respiratory therapist after Terri became PVS in order to learn how to better care for her. And someone asked me what he did previously and I said he worked in a restaurant, IIRC.

She has not had representation and that is exactly what the Senate is talking about today. That is ok if you don't agree with me. Trent Lott agrees with me.
To: Peach
Thanks. But has any court determined that Michael has failed to provide care for Terri? I don't believe so.
To: pickyourpoison
What was his career before he went into nursing? I don't believe I've seen that on any of the threads. He was a restaurant manager.
He's a respiratory therapist now.
Never was a nurse.

To: Diva Betsy Ross
Well she has not had federal representation. That report linked above clearly documents she has had state representation.
To: AmishDude
That doesn't mean that we should stoop to the name calling and personal attack
A good debate .. even a heated one is fine .. but the name calling is uncalled for
Well that is unless you are Hellary Clinton :0)

Don't think a link will work - the house bill is HR 1332 search at thomas.loc.gov
"....but does not include a claim or cause of action in which no party disputes, and the court finds, that the incapacitated person, while having capacity, had executed a written advance directive...."
I read this as needing NO dispute AND a written order -
otherwise any " individual who has some significant relationship" can toss it to the Federal District Court.
I don't know if the Feds can just say no or not at that point.
