Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla to visit US after wedding

Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will travel to the United States to meet President George W. Bush and his wife on their first official foreign trip as a married couple, a report said.

Officials at the prince's London office, Clarence House, were devising the itinerary for a week-long visit in October or November by the pair, who are due to marry on April 8, The Sunday Telegraph reported, citing royal officials.

A spokesman for Clarence House confirmed it was likely that Parker Bowles, 57, would accompany the heir to the throne on future foreign tours after their wedding, but he was unable to give the destination of the autumn trip.

"Certainly it will be a possibility that she might accompany him on his official tour in the autumn but we aren't going to confirm where that might be," the spokesman told AFP.

The Sunday Telegraph, however, said the two divorcees would visit Bush and his wife Laura at the White House after receiving an open invitation.

"America is very much on the cards for the prince and Mrs Parker Bowles. They see it as an appropriate location for their first foreign tour," a royal official was quoted by the weekly as saying.

"However no detailed plans will be drawn up until after the wedding is out of the way," the official said.

Visiting the United States would be a bit of a gamble because Charles's late wife Princess Diana is still hugely popular there, warned the newspaper, noting that the prince's aides used to call the country "Diana territory".

The Clarence House spokesman said Charles makes two official foreign trips yearly. He has just returned from a visit to Australia  and New Zealand .

Separately, the prince's office denied a newspaper report that Charles had considered canceling the wedding following a series of embarrassing hiccups.

"That is absolutely not the case at all," the spokesman said in response to an article in the mid-market Sunday Express, which alleged that the prince had thought about scrapping his wedding while in Australia .

"He certainly never contemplated calling the whole thing off... The wedding is going to happen on April 8 and there is no problem with that," the spokesman said.

In a front page article, the Sunday Express claimed that Parker Bowles had to talk her future husband around and had even taken over the arrangements.

It quoted a former close aide as saying the prince had been very depressed over his wedding plans, which have run into a series of obstacles.

"He feels the wheels are coming off and everyone is against him. In Australia , he threw his hands up and said, 'To hell with it. Everyone's on my back. Let's forget the whole thing'," the former aide said.

Where do they get the notion that the US is "Diana country"?

I am glad that Charles and Camilla will finally wed and wish them the best.

I think it's nice that they are coming to the US on their first foreign trip instead of say, France.

The House of Windsor/Saxe-Coburg/Hannover should be deported to Germany and stripped of all of their possessions. A bunch of Welfare Cases with better educations.

I mean really....

What's all the hubbub over "royalty"????

We have no "royalty" in this country, (other than "celebrities", "sports heroes", and "political figures").

I am NOBODY'S "subject"; therefore, all "royalty" can kiss my assets.

"bunch of Welfare Cases with better educations."

Better educations, my eye. They either didn't teach or did a poor job teaching the costumed laddy William about WWII and western civilization's enemy, Hitler, against whom many of his countryman died fighting and who, along with initiating and executing mass murder on a grand scale, regularly bombed Britain.
