Actually, it's sort of appropriate.

The Jews were done away with because someone didn't believe them to be worthy of life. Here's a man who believes the same, even though his wife is alive and responsive.

Pretty apt example.

Are there any young women out there who would expect their husbands to sit by their bedside wiping their drool and cleaning their ass for 30 years? Who would say that would be their wish?

Michael can avoid that duty without killing her. Terri's parents, who actually do love her, have offered to take care of her, and have even attempted to have a court impose this outcome, but Michael will have none of it.

For Michael to be satisfied, Terri must die.

Good post and big heart, cajungirl. God forbid any of us here on FR ever end up in Terri's position, but if we do, Lord grant us a worthy advocate, not someone like this guy. I do have to say though, that this has forced me to think about getting a living will together for myself.

Actually an offer of $1 million was made by a wealthy CA businesman represented by Gloria Aldred

I don't doubt that. A guardian appointed by the court is required to file annual financial statements. A simple review of the required statements would appropriatly settle that issue.

"Excuse me, but how dare you imply that Hildy is less than sensitive when it comes to knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust and all that it means.
Talk about not tolerating another point of view."

Excuse yourself!

I find her totally insensitive and WHY IF she is Jewish as she has claimed she is so PRO death for a handicapped person. I don't understand and hoping she could explain this from a Jewish perspective since I can't fathom this. Only Hitler and the like could. Just trying to understand another point of view ... .

For Michael to be satisfied, Terri must die.

I don't think he'll settle for anything less now.

Here's the business model. We know that the population of American seniors is increasing exponentially.

We know that entrepreneurs well aware of this fact have been planning their responses for a long time.

We know that many Americans find their older relatives an inconvenience.

If we make killing the incapacitated somehow acceptable, investors in a new wave of "compassionate euthanasia parlors" will make an awful lot of money.

Even more than you can make selling swampland, which Messrs. Greer and Felos are both quite familiar with.

Let us also not forget that when you have extended families you end up taking care of your parents that way. It is the ways of life.

"He doesn't have to. The Schindlers have offered to."

But isn't it his position that she would have not to have stayed alive by feeding tubes? That's why he's got custody.

I think the fact that Senator FRist is a medical doctor and there are several doctors in the House---it is obvious that they would take this stance--

It has been written here "First do no harm"---

Frist was VERY deliberative Thursday night late and said that he thinks Terri is on a higher plain of consciousness than PVS, which makes it more imperative that she has more tests and some therapy to really diagnose her possible improvement--

BUT, even if she doesn't "improve", she is a worthwhile human that deserves to be loved by her family---

Second, the Constitution gives Congress no authority to pass such a law.

Now that's an interesting statement. I don't know whether to laugh or cry............

"so you know more than all the Doctors and (impartial) experts who have examined her? Wow..."

Care to give us your medical credentials?

As a medical professional I care for many ANGELS with less OBVIOUS brain damage then Terri...they do have a soul and a reason for living even if it does not meet with your standards.

Sometimes all it takes to live a good life is for someone to just love you the way you are dispite your medical dianosis. Terri has that.

Now go have lunch.

If I'm mistaken I'm sure someone will correct me....

Michael, with Judge Greers blessing, hasn't been required to file anything.

I agree.

I see nothing wrong with her so called husband letting her parents care for her. He's already on with his life ... tow kids and malpractice money.

Federal Judges do not screw with discovery requirements...

Assuming Discovery is allowed this should get real interesting.
