MS will never sue anyone for the well understood reason by him that the person he sues would have the ability to do extensive discovery in this case to defend themselves. Of course MS (aka SCUMBAG) greatly fears that.

"I think some of these zealous anti-Terri types have guilty consciences. Why else are they so hysterical?"

Okay. What I can offer here is not super helpful because my only experience with this is with a person who died of inoperable cancer.

My mother had nasalpharyngeal (sp?) cancer that could not be operated on. She did have chemo and other treatments, but nothing really worked.

For a lot of reasons, which I won't go into here, I KNOW that my father was, perhaps unconsciously, eager to be rid of her.

So when he talked my mother into signing a DNR paper at the hospital I was beside myself.

But I was alone. Everyone else thought I was wrong--"let her go" was all I heard.

Maybe they were right. She was in pain.

But on the other hand, she was receiving morphine. And I was bringing her first grandchild (an infant at the time) out to visit her, and her last Thanksgiving, she spent picking out clothes for him as a Christmas present. I still remember, to this day, looking into her blue eyes at Thanksgiving and saying, "I'll see you at Christmas," but she died on December 12.

Who is to say what the value of an extra day is?

In any case... it's darn hard enough to decide when to "let them go" when the person is on the edge of death.

Terri is not dying of inoperable cancer. She is not on the verge of death.

Yes, but most people do not know the facts of the case

True to form, the media is on the side of death.

"if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it."
-Joseph Göbles

They have succeed to an astonishing degree. Just informing those here on FR of the facts - from simple, irrefutable facts contained in video footage, to the ignored 1991 bone scan, to weighing Michael Schiavo's character, etc - takes an enormous amount of effort and patience. Some just want to throw bombs, but others are sincere and have had no idea about these facts, because they are misinformed.

Public sentiment is key here.

It's always a safe bet to bet against poor Terri's prospects.

Well, many prayers are going heavenward praying for the intercession of the Lord in Terri's defense. Let's all keep praying!

He is a limited public figure in anything related to this situation.

Probably us calling him an adulterer would be outside that bound.

But, it is the truth, so I don't worry about him suing me.

Wow, I'm surprised you took time out from defending your bosom buddy, THE SCUMBAG, to write that.

That has to be the slap down of all slap downs!

/sarcasm

My computers had been down for a day and I just logged on and went to the end of the thread (your post, at the time). Yep, you're right!

Hi Saundra. Good to see you. I don't get to post so much these days.

It makes me heartsick with grief that life has become so meaningless; that a once God-fearing nation has become such an enabler of Satan.

As a good Presbyterian you know the Old Testament teaching on adultery, and the penalty for it.

My point being, it was posted he couldn't sue as he was a public figure, that he can sue for libel and slander.

Many public figures have done so and won or settled out of court.

Politicians are a different manner but he has not held elective office.

Well, Michael is too stupid to even think about slapping libel suits.

He is a moron and an adulterer.

And now a murderer.

"Methinks they're following a similar public relations path with the euthanasia industry"

I think you are right on target.

Once one form of defenseless life is devalued, what's next?

The one good thing is, the U.S. stands for life (even though, when you're "on the inside" it doesn't feel like it, because there is always a struggle).

But believe me--as I posted last night, thanks to the health care system here and the pro-death culture in Canada, if Terri lived here, she would have been dead a long time ago. :(

Where have I ever advocated death for the disabled. SHOW ME or SHUT UP.

Color me confused, but have you not been on these threads supporting the killing of Terri Shiavo a disabled woman???????

Where do you think this case will lead in the future?????? Killing of any disabled without a living will is exactly where this case leads because that person might inconvenience somebody. All it now takes is hearsay evidence, and that is so trustworthy.

This case has huge consequences.

Hello BearWash, good to see you again!

This case is so sad. We've all called/emailed our senators and representatives. Some of us have given money (I gave $100 a month back; can't do it again right now). What else can we do? We're waiting, in limbo, for leaders to exercise their Constitutional responsibility to protect innocent life (14th Amendment).

Terri gets a little weaker every hour.

"but most people do not know the facts of the case. It takes hours of work to find out, and the American people won't devote the time and care required to learn the facts."

I couldn't agree more.

After all, the media most people listen to is, oh, to use a phrase that is quite apt here, h**l bent on not giving them the facts.

I heard one one of the Senators say they haven't had this kind of response since 9-11

Really? That's good to know.

She is BRAIN DEAD. I am just agreeing with the courts. And now, for the 101st time I have stated, ad nauseum, that I believe that absent written consent, Terri should be handed over to her parents providing they take care of her in their home, with their money. But I don't think that is how anybody would want their life to be lived. That is what I said.

"Delay says one compromise is that Greer is still the judge."

Isn't that kinda like saying "we will do the corrective surgery on your foot, but first it has to be amputated"?

According to the CNN page, persistent vegetative state is not equivalent to brain death.
