House Majority Leader Tom DeLay pledged Friday to hold Florida state judge George Greer in contempt of Congress for ignoring a congressional subpoena for Terri Schiavo's testimony, saying, "No little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress."
"The Congress will pursue this, if we have to hold him in contempt of Congress," DeLay told radio host Sean Hannity.
Pressed on whether he intended to hold Judge Greer in contempt, the top Republican told Hannity: "Absolutely, absolutely."
"We will do everything to enforce the power and authority of the Congress and no little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he added.
Earlier in the day Judge Greer rebuffed the Schiavo subpoena, telling attorneys in the case, "I have had no cogent reason why the [congressional] committee should intervene." He claimed that the last-minute action on the part of Congress does not nullify years of legal proceedings.
But DeLay told Hannity, "This judge and the Supreme Court of Florida are well known to be liberal judges that have a different worldview and they're imposing their worldview on the law."
The top House leader said that "no sane person" could look at Schiavo and say she's in a persistent vegetative state.
DeLay called a lawyer for Michael Schiavo, who has pressed for years to have his wife starved to death, "the personification of evil."
Only think I have seen is involuntary muscular reaction, if they have her on video saying "I Love You" then I am completely wrong.
Liberals are mentally ill.
And the fact that she didn't means that MS's word on it shouldn't be worth a grain of salt. The absence of the desire to die should be construed to be a desire to live. We should always error on the side of life if there is doubt.
He may use it to open our eyes to the extent to which the contempt for life has spread in this country. This has shocked a lot of people. Starve a sick woman to death? No, never. This is America, for goodness sake.
Well it's happening. Right before our eyes.
At the end of all this, something may finally happen on the abortion front. For that is where all this originates. The decades-long contempt for the unborn and the suffering we've inflicted upon them has quietly insinuated itself into our culture and we've made our peace with it. Until something like this happens and we suddenly realize at what late stage of sickness we've arrived at.
Why be surprised? We crush the heads of infants as they are born and call it "freedom.".
I probably would have realized that, if I had been thinking.
Because you only take orders from Lucifer?
Where did I do that?
Please post a direct link or quote.
I would never do it to a loved one or anybody else for that matter. In fact, shortly before my brothers 26th birthday he was hit by a car. At the time he was not living with his wife but had two little children. She was not interested in him but in getting whatever money she could. To make a long story short after she got the money she wanted she at least did the decent this and turned by brother over to my mother and divorced him. He also had just a feeding tube. My mother mentioned to me that the doctor had suggested she remove the feeding tube and starve him to death. I told her then if she did that she would not only lose a son but she would lose a daughter and grandchildren. I wanted nothing to do with people who would kill people that way then and I want nothing to do with them now. Fortunately, she did not do it. He died of natural causes ten years later. So you see you know nothing. In fact, I wouldn't do it if somebody asked me to. I also find that selfish.
What you think you know, is not what is known. It's garbage. You have not read many of my posts on this matter - clearly. Complexity just isn't your bag - clearly.
But unfortunate for the rest of us....

Sinkspur is a troll.
She has purposeful movement of the eyes and tries to sing with her mother, it is reported. This is not the manifestation of a decerebrate patient.
Are you serious?
Do you know your American history?
State's rights were trampled down and destroyed by the 19th century War of Northern Aggression.
All of them. I read the thread.
How much useful information have you posted?
Oh, some I guess, since I'm getting the hell beat out of me.
You're being mostly ignored.
One thing about sinkspur, you stand your ground!
Anyone with a soul left should not "like" it. When are we supposed to be in the business of "liking" abominations?
Look, talke to me some other day about the legal ramifications of slavery. I'm not in the mood.
Says who?
It really is the pits when people inconvenience us, isn't it?
I don't know what you think this is about.
You seem to want to make it about feelings.
Well, I seem to have missed the Bambi Movie, and Old Yeller too.
This is about the law we will all have to live under for years to come and how it is being screwed up to the detriment of thousands in order to save a 'person' who did absolutely nothing to save herself when she could have.
Yes, she is inconvenient, and she is inconvenient through her own negligence, so let her die.
