The fact is, even if she said "I waaaaant to live", those who want her dead would find a way to twist even that around. They would say things like "She doesn't know what she's saying". Their minds are already made up, evidence notwithstanding.

If they'd asked, "Do you want your parents to stop interfering?" and she said, "I waaaaaaaaaaaaant," the anti-Schiavo/pro-Schindler crowd would be crying that Mrs. Schiavo was trying to contradict the question, not confirm it. They'd say: "She was saying 'I waaaaaaaant to live'"
