**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
Unless she's sedated and unconscious. Too obvious a remedy?
This has gone up and down the chain, to the USSC and back, yet people want to keep it dragging on and on. For whatever reasons he's making the call, her husband has the decision-making authority.
A deus ex machina in the form of a stroke or something is called for, to resolve this once and for all. Sorry if that seems too harsh, but most people on this thread seem happy to see her external body just waste away for years and years. Talk about cruel.
There's not much footage because her "husband" keeps her under strict lock and key.
What makes you think you have the right to judge anothers life as worthless?
Why not???? That's what Jeb should do. Deliver the subpoena, accompanied by members of the national guard, a medically equipped van and a medical team and carry Terri the heck out of there!
Hank Rearden, I am praying for you.
(sigh)
Great start. No matter which side of the argument you take, the debate is very informative. Again, good thread.
Willy boy, you have finally come to the right place for good information.
Terri is NOT, I repeat, NOT hooked up to breathing tubes, only a feeding tube, which MANY disabled people use as an everyday tool to go about their lives.
Terri came out of her coma within the first two months of her collapse. She had been partially rehabilitated to where she was communicating with her caregivers. Simple communication, but communication nonetheless.
I can point you in the direction of many things that support these statements, but I am too excited to find them right now. Please keep watching this story unfold. You will be amazed at what the mainstream press has misinformed you about all this time.
Steroids. Terri.
Meanwhile, Rome burns...
"Let the poor woman GO, already."
YES, Let her GO out of that hell hole of a hospice into the fresh air and get the therapy she was so cruelly and ILLEGALLY denied by her husband who wants her dead, and his lawyer who wants everybody dead.
The husband was even limiting the access of the parents to Terri, that's why there aren't more pictures and videos.
I wrote: "When they remove her feeding tube, she will not die. She will die AFTER she starves to death over a period of weeks, feeling the same agony you would feel if you were starved to death."
You wrote: "Unless she's sedated and unconscious. Too obvious a remedy?"
I reply: Uh, NO. That's quite obvious and that's the point. As soon as they get the tube removed, they'll be back in court saying how cruel it is to watch her starve and they should be allowed to have a doctor "assist" her with a lethal injection. Too obvious a "remedy"?
Found this the other day, about a computer mouse that is breathing-controlled, from the UK!

... one of surely many handicapped and learning-disabled devices that can be used to HELP Terri testify!
Lord God, set your Guardian Angels all around Terri's bed, in Jesus' Name, Amen
Did her insane husband turn down the million dollars offered him if he would let Terri's parents be her guardian? I suspect he is afraid that if she ever starts communicating, she will say he is the one who choked her.
Each one of us would INEVITABLY DIE if food and water were withheld from us.
Using good law to beat bad law...I like it.
There is no statute of limitations on attempted murder anywhere in the US. Much to the dismay of certain, shall we say, elements of the liberal mass.
" I suspect he is afraid that if she ever starts communicating, she will say he is the one who choked her."
That's what I think as well. Otherwise why not just divorce her, and let her parents be her guardians and take care of her?
I don't get this obsession with a pile of flesh and bones. That's basically what she is now. Let her go. Let her soul move on to better places. How can people who claim to believe in God do this to her?
Listen Hank, your negativity really sucks. I don't understand why all the naysayers come to these positive threads to call the rest of us idiots in so many words.
A feeding tube is NOT and extraordinary measure to keep someone alive. Thousands of people are alive and recieve their nutrition in this manner.
Bottom line, it is cruel and painful. Just as you must think the rest of us shouldn't assume she would want to be alive, you can't assume she wouldn't. It is best to err on the side of life.
Hank, if YOU were sedated and unconscious, and were not provided food and water via a feeding tube/IV, you would also die within 7-14 days. How is that not OK for you, but OK for a woman who's only crime is that she is brain damaged. Should we just kill all mentally challenged people, since they can't contribute to society, just useless eaters???
but most people on this thread seem happy to see her external body just waste away for years and years. Talk about cruel.
Tell that to this woman, who was in a coma for (I think) more than 10 years, and is now recovered: "former paralysis victim Kate Adamson (who had her feeding tube removed for 8 days) and her husband Steven Klugman will discuss their efforts to help Terry Schiavo."
