The woman who was held hostage in her apartment by the suspect in Atlanta's courthouse slayings came forward to give an account of her ordeal, saying he let her go after they bonded while discussing God, family, pancakes and the massive manhunt going on outside her apartment.

Think for a moment that every one else in the 24 hours this guy was running around, winded up dead or injured. He did not harm this woman because she trusted God to see her through and her calm spirit seemed to defuse the situation. We are not hung up on her. We are awed, once again, by God's power and grace. I hope he gets the death penalty, but I hope he can turn his life to Christ and get the help he needs.
Where was the five year ole daughter to begin with at a friend's house?
I understand early on, he had her follow his car back to her place. Why did she follow him back to her place by car as opposed to calling the police then and there?
She says to avoid further violence.

I totally agree. I must admit I haven't been reading what other FReepers have been saying about this girl but I find it very hard to believe that there could be anything negative said about her. What is the controversy around here? I'm too lazy to read all the posts. Sorry!!
Huh?
From reading this post of yours, I am forced to disagree. Only one person on this thread has lost their perspective.
No one (at least that I've seen) is calling for him to be released for good behavior. He's gonna face the death penalty.
However, her story is really remarkable. Here's a rapist and multiple murderer seemingly tamed by a young woman who he originally tied up.
There are several stories to be told, one of them about a cold blooded killer, and another about a remarkable young woman.
She feels "sorry for him". That goes too far.
Point?
"She sounds like one calm, smart, resourceful woman!"
I think she has quite a past we don't know about yet but I have a feeling she's seen plenty of violence in her life already. Her husband died in a knifefight or something similar, it makes me think she has talked violent people "down" before.
Apparently some people called in to Rush Limbaugh and suggested she became attracted to him, or something. I only heard it second-hand myself, but I think that was the issue.
I smell a Lifetime movie in her future. lol
Roger that!
She did precisely what she needed to do in order to prevent him from killing her. Good for her.
Thank you.
What? That's ridiculous...
Could be. But for her to still be alive, having confronted a man who had already committed several murders and clearly had little else to lose (in terms of sentencing), is worth hearing about.
It sounds to me like you're the one who's hung up on Ashley Smith. As for the rest of us, we recognize it for what it is: an amazing story. One result of her finding his "human side" is that more people are not dead.
All evil people have a "human" side.
And all human people have an "evil" side, too. Even people who feel called to (needlessly) remind us about the crimes Mr. Nichols committed.
He probably will get the death penalty here in GA, but I too hope he turns to Christ. I hope she has planted the seed within him.
Sounds odd to me too. What can I say? maybe i have it wrong.
A..She stopped the killing..B she got him to surrender peacefully C she is alive to mother her child.
He is a cold blooded manipulative murderer..I hope they execute him..There..is that fair and balanced?
I feel sorry for him, too.
I feel a lot sorrier for the families of his victims, of course.
