Received word this morning that my brother, Orvil L. Robinson, of San Antonio, Texas died yesterday afternoon after fighting a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane (Hodges) Robinson, two children, Cheryl Moran of San Antonio and Jeff Robinson of California, and several grandchildren. He was retired from the U.S. Weather Bureau. He was a US Navy veteran. Served as a meteorologist aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge in the '50s. He was a good and decent, loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Prayed.
I pray you brother will rest in peace and that God will give you and your family comfort in this time of grief and sorrow.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers up for you and your family.
My sympathy to you and your family Jim. Praying for God's loving comfort for all.

Orvil did not have a FR screen name, but he was a lurker. He often told me that he enjoyed reading about our FReeper activities. He told me a few months ago that he was sitting in a doctor's waiting room and picked up a copy of Time magazine and was shocked to read about Free Republic's Buckhead exposing Dan Rather's fraudulent reporting.
He was a patriot and was very proud of the FReepers. He sat in on a FReeper meeting in San Antonio a couple years ago and enjoyed it very much.

We helped Orvil and Jane celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary that year. We also went to dinner with them and several of Jane's brothers and sisters (I believe she comes from a family of ten children). Was a great reunion. They're all definitely members of the Christian right. Was a very enjoyable afternoon and evening.
When we arrived at their home that trip, the first thing we noticed was the yellow ribbon they had on the oak tree in their front yard. They had put it up for their son-in-law, Frank Moran, who was an Army officer serving in Afghanistan at the time. They also had a beautiful American flag hanging on the wall of their family room.
We last saw our brother when we traveled through Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas last summer. Orvil and Jane drove up to Oklahoma where we had a family reunion with the Morton side of our family, and then we spent the next couple days together visiting the Robinson side of the family in the Ft. Smith/Van Buren area of Arkansas.
I will always cherish those last few visits. My heart pours out for Jane and their children, but it is comforting to know that Orvil's suffering is now over and he rejoins our parents already at home with the Lord.
I know it sounds corny, but it seems like we're all family. Your prayers are very much appreciated.
God bless you all.
Condolences to the Robinson family.
