9Wants to Know: Churchill settlement stalled written by: Paula Woodward (9Wants to Know Reporter) Created: 3/11/2005 9:06 AM MST - Updated: 3/11/2005 4:28 PM MST

BOULDER - The deal on a buy-out between University of Colorado Prof. Ward Churchill and CU is stalled.

A buy-out was believed imminent, but Churchill attorney David Lane tells 9Wants to Know, "Negotiations are now stalled. I'm hopeful they will resume again."

Lane says he was notified by the attorney for CU Friday afternoon that the Board of Regents need more time to consider whether they want a buy-out deal.

"Basically, the position we're taking to the University of Colorado is if they don't want to settle, then OK, he'll continue to teach at the University of Colorado," Lane said.

9Wants to Know has learned several regents are concerned about new allegations of plagiarism against Churchill.

This lying marxist (I know, repeating myself) is getting just what he wants. He's gonna get payed off and werk somewhere else. The best thing to do is let this POS dry up and blow away. The faux American Indian plaigerist will always have a job somewhere in the academe.

Nuff said.

Pay him! They should sue him for his salary since he was hired under false pretenses.

Sounds like a threat! LOL!

I think they forgot the quotes around "teach"!

FIRE THE SOB AND LET HIM TRY TO MAKE HIS CASE IN COURT.

THE EVIDENCE AGAINST HIM IS OVERWHELMING.

Why couldn't CU just settle this by agreeing to pay Chief Wannabe a sum he would accept -- say $5MM -- and then pay him with counterfeit money?

Pay him with wampum.

The university knew exactly what this guy was when they hired him and gave him tenure. Hell, it's why they hired him and gave him tenure. As long as he peddled his poison inside their walls, no problem. But once his regular stinkbombs went national, he became a liability. The university wants to get rid of him to erase the embarrassment, and go back to business as usual. That's not good enough anymore.

I hope this drags out a long time and costs CU a ton. The consequences of this hiring should be reflected in the lack of enrollment, lack of alumni support and legal costs. There should be consequences for the actions of those administrators who hired such a loser, just as there are for any company who hires an employee who abuses their position.

The concept of "faculty tenure" is so intriguing. Just think of the parallel in private life. There is none.
Why is that?

So there is still hope that there are some adults in the CU system???

Maybe they've been hearing from some outraged, tuition-paying parents.

I hope so.

The fact that this buy-out is even being considered is so outrageous. Ack!

When a school has a teacher win the Nobel Prize, it reflects on the college, and so does this.

So, what if it has both? In 2001, two of CU's professors won the Nobel Prize in Physics.
