This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
Live..Lisa Bloom on Court TV still reporting about the Michael Jackson testimony..tick, tock.
Cop on FNC very shaken.
All four victims are at Grave Memorial Hospital. Don't want to release more information because families are watching.
Original gun from courtroom deputy. Possibly grabbed second deputies firearm after putting five rounds into him in the parking garage.
This just adds to my impression, as an Atlanta suburbanite, that Atlanta itself is basically a third world anarchy.
Baloney. I've lived in Atlanta. Corruption, patronage, and incompetence creates risks that can extract a high price.
Oh dear. Prayers.
A rap sheet longer than my arm...typical goblin...
4 people have been shot.
Judge, 2 deputies, court clerk.
Why was this scumbag not in restraints???
I bet you know know what IIRC means?
Lack of insurance KILLS.
AH, I am HORRIBLE with geography!
If I Recall Correctly/
Welcome aboard.
Holy crap.
I'm glad to hear local media is blasting his picture.
Doubtful.
I was on a jury last fall. Two on the panel thought the defendant's conduct was okay by them...Kidnapping with a deadly weapon (firearm). We could only agree and convict on unlawfull restraint. The two said that it was part of their culture.
Does anyone know who to contact at fox for background on a similar case?
Judge J. Lenard Fleet had a situation in Broward County FL where he actually had a criminal defendant threaten him. The Judge responded with bravado and he put the pistol which he carried under his robe and advised the defendant to give it his best shot. (the defendant was surrounded by deputies)
Just damn.
Ganglanta
The Atlanta station MSNBC is airing reported twice that the police think he might have two guns. Early report of course and may be wrong.
5? My word. This is bad...
When I first got to the thread my thought was "a shooting at some county courthouse?...why is this getting so much traffic."
Now I know. Be safe, Atlanta folks.
Presumption of innocence. It's been argued (successfully) that letting the jury see the defendant in restraints or jail uniform destroys that presumption, so defendants are unrestrained and change into business clothes at the courthouse before being taken into the courtroom.
Keep reading, baby. The guy is NOT a juvie. Sorry to ruin your wet dream.
