This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
After the Rodney King verdict in '92, Atlanta went through some bad rioting downtown. I worked for the State of Georgia at the time. I had to leave work early for an emergency doctor appointment. As I drove across MLK Blvd. I see a gang of kids yelling and screaming. I didn't think twice about it. Turns out I missed being in the middle of the riot by minutes.
Glad to hear you missed this mess this morning.
Okey, the photo was much, but hanging this animal at the courthouse where he killed 3 people is not!
That's just wrong. At least it'd be more economical to feed.
Did I interpret that correctly? The rodeo was moved to Andalusia? Why? I've always associated the rodeo w/Opp. Andalusia has the domino championship.
That seems likely to me also. I believe he'll be caught, but not before he's had plenty of time to do his worst. If he lays his hands on more firepower, the toll could rise quite a bit.
Wish we could head "down Texas way" but we're shooting in a sporting clays tourney this weekend to benefit the Boy Scouts. Eighty seven gents and me, it'll be torture, but somehow I'll manage. ;-)
And NOW, it turns out, that the sheriff's deputy who was overpowered and stripped of a duty weapon, was a FEMALE.
Can't blame her, but we CAN blame political correctness and lack of basic comon sense RUN AMOK for a woman to be ALLOWED to guard, alone, a 6'1" 200 lb male, accused of a violent crime of rape, AND that was just caught the other day with a handmade knife of some sort. Un-f'ing-believable!
It is helpful, in police and corrections work, to have some size, strength, and a commanding presence, with which to intimidate those who might be considering using force to escape, kill, etc. Apparently, the female deputy did NOT have what was necessary to do her job, IF that job entailed escorting much larger, and stronger male inmates.
Again, not blaming her, but I AM blaming the feminazi movement, left-wing media and politicians, liberal ACLU and other ambulance-chasing groups, and others that have foisted affirmative-action for women in jobs that are almost always MUCH better suited for men (law enforcement, combat MOS' in the military, etc.).
There is ABSOLUTELY no excuse, other than fears of being labeled sexist, fears of lawsuits by left-wing lawyers, and just out-and-out incompetence in the leadership of Fulton county (civilian leaders and sheriff's dept. officials), for a female officer to be alone with a male suspect.
Those responsible for the decisions that put that female deputy in that position, have a lot to answer for, and have the blood of 3 people (and possibly more) on their hands.

He's BLACK.
Is this more PC nonsense gone crazy?
22LR ain't nothin' to sneeze at.
Bet you could clear a fair patch of scrub pine with one of those.
Oh, joy. Now we get to hear Paul Howard bloviate...
I thought maybe it was just me; I was kinda shocked--is a court reporter "ruling elite"?
When I heard the news this morning, I was thinking "I hope they can get someone besides Paul Howard to prosecute this maniac."
I am sure if this was most other cities this would not have happened.
ROFL!
yet another who asks The Question
welcome to the club, bikepacker!
For many years, I never drove by without seeing some guys on the porch playing dominoes.
Cobb cops rock.
They don't play.
Yep. I was impressed with the BB version. The .22 would be a lead fire hose.
He's BLACK.
There are different shades - though I'm black, I have a lighter complexion than many (I'd generally be described as light to medium), while my son is notably darker than I am (he'd be described as dark). (mind you, I'm notably darker now than I was when I was in college)
