BTW, can someone explain why this perp is being described as "medium complexion?

He's BLACK.

There are different shades - though I'm black, I have a lighter complexion than many (I'd generally be described as light to medium), while my son is notably darker than I am (he'd be described as dark). (mind you, I'm notably darker now than I was when I was in college)

Ya... but c'mon.... at least say medium complexion for a black man. If I only heard the description on the radio, I'd be looking for an hispanic.

My father used to talk about how Georgia molassas makers would determine the grade by color. He said they would go by the darkness of various black women in the community, so if a light complected woman was named Ira, and the molassas was the same color as she was, the molassas would have obtained the color and grade of Ira.

I have no idea if this is true or not. My father was a big BSer. But it's a great story.
