This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
Shooting someone in the face? This guy....
Some will disagree with this, but I believe all defendants charged with a crime of violence should be positively restrained while in a courthouse. That means a stun belt at minimum. Of course, if there is only one escorting deputy and he's incompetent, inattentive, etc. then it won't matter what precautions are ordered.
No way...I'll take YOUR word for it, but...sheesh.
We always worry about this sort of stuff, the courthouse necessarily attracts lowlifes and crazies.
We have had some close calls before, but nothing like this, at least not in a long time.
Other deputy was shot in the chest as the Perp was trying t ofind a car to jack in the parking ramp. They haven't come right out and said "a male deputy", but they keep referring to "him" being DOA at Grady hospitol.
Next time, try pleading "not guilty by reason of insanity" to a traffic ticket.
Yeah, but Dreher sounds far more intelligent than the Fulton Co. Sheriff.
Thanks...so the female deputy (who's not dead) was shot first by her own gun - and then he killed the judge, the court reporter and another deputy (male}
I'm going to be flamed by some feminists, but only idiots and political correctness nuts would put a woman deputy in charge of a big male thug like this.
If they only put LE individuals BIGGER then this guy - either by height or weight or build this most likely would have been avoided completely.

Dr. Jeffrey Salomone, one of the attending trauma surgeons at Grady Memorial Hospital, said the mortally wounded deputy was brought into the hospital at 9:24 a.m. with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He had no vital signs when he arrived here, and despite our resuscitative efforts, he was pronounced dead at about 9:34, Salomone said. About that time, a second Fulton County sheriffs deputy arrived.
The second deputy, Salomone said, appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the head.
Salomone said the bullet did not enter the deputys skull.
She has a small bruise on her brain and some fractures around her face, the doctor said. It appears that after being shot, the deputy perhaps fell to the ground, receiving some of those fractures to her head.
He said that while that deputy is in critical condition, she is expected to survive the injuries.
NEW INFORMATION: Latest car taken at was a HONDA ACCORD, 1990s model. GA plates just read by police on air.
The Atlanta deputy chief is actually giving a decent press conference. Shows you who actually runs the dept.
"They haven't come right out and said "a male deputy", but they keep referring to "him" being DOA at Grady hospitol."
Ouch...
They aren't sure the deputies weapon was taken......did I hear that correctly?
His emotional state??? Jeese reporters are idiots.
LOL! Talk about an instant "15 minutes of fame" getter!
Yep.
I won plenty of cases in traffic court.
Of course, I was the prosecutor....
