This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
Moments later, when Nichols picture flashed on the TV screen, she remembered.
When I saw him, I said, Oh my God, I represented him, said Wlker, chief judge of the court that handles traffic and county ordinance violations.
Walker, a former public defender, represented Nichols while he was on probation from 1996 to 1999 for felony drug charges in Cobb County. When he was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana, she represented him at his probation revocation hearing.
He was very respectable to me, Walker said.
She said Nichols had a girlfriend at the time. She was a very nice young lady, very respectable, Walker said. The judge refused to revoke Nichols probation based on flimsy evidence, according to Walker.
Good idea.
Any chance that you could find out info on the murderer's first trial for rape and kidnapping, which resulted in a mistrial? Was it a hung jury? If so, what was the count? Or was it something that happened during the trial?
NEW INFORMATION- 4 state troopers headed towards the Vinings area- west on 285 - high rate of speed...on FOX NEWS.
Thanks..tuning in
Five police cars now sitting in median of highway. Possibly scanning traffic.
Have union workers lose/crush/damage/destroy/misdeliver my packages?
5 police cars sitting on a highway all bunched up.
NEW INFORMATION- Hot pursuit now in place, apparantly on:
I'd love to say what I think but best not to. It should be a wakeup call to the powers that be of the undercurrent gaining momentum in this country.
10 or 12 police cars now reported in a half mile stretch on I-285. Heavy concentration of LE cars.
10 to 12 police cars in a half mile stretch..
The first trial ended in a hung jury last week. The second trial began on Monday.
Because most traffic courts just have a judge, not a jury. The judge knows the defendant is guilty, so there is no reason to put on a show. When the jury is present, they have to carry out the 'presumption of innocence'. It the same reason that you can get away with leading questions and some hearsay in front of a judge. He'll just say that he can 'separate the wheat from the chaff' if an objection is made. In front of the jury, he would have to strike the improper comments and give instruction to the jury.
True, but you're only talking about one .40mm load. There are some much faster loads, 155gr @ 1200+ FPS, 135gr @ 1325 FPS, (See this article) which perform quite well. The full-on 10MM loads are certainly monsters, but if the FBI doesn't like the recoil and muzzle flip they give, its enough to make me think twice. Besides, the .357 JHP at fast speeds is the reigning king. Fast .40 S&W loads are pretty comparable.
Thanks, watching now...
hold muh place bump!
I'm only sure about what I read in the lead MSNBC article 30 minutes ago. It said the prisoner was not in cuffs or leg irons because the judge thought that would "prejudice the jury."
OK. I'm back.
Come to find out that Rachel and I missed being at the scene of one of the carjackings by about two or three minutes.
Talk about "cold sweat time"...
