Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)
WAGA-TV/WSB-TV Atlanta | 3.11.05

Posted on 03/11/2005 6:39:06 AM PST by mhking

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

Actually I liked it so much better when we could actually pay the boys to pump gas for us! Ahhhh those were the days... picking the stations with the cutest pumpers. It solved so many problems on so many levels.

I never left without a windshield cleaning and an oil check, not to mention tire pressure...

You've got a lot of nerve, buddy.

Everybody knows that women are not equal in all things and here you come out rubbing their collective noses in it.

People prove their equality through their actions and performance. If they are equal, this is seen by their peers and accepted. If they are inferior, but the king has proclaimed that they are equal and perhaps superior, then every one must develop a 'blind eye'.

This PC crap has disabled us as a nation.

City of Kennesaw code requires all home owners to own a gun. There are several "out's" e.g. can't afford it, don't believe in it, etc. It is basically a "send them a message" ordinance and has never been enforced. I live in kennesaw. When asked by people if I own a gun, I tell them to climb in my window the next night at 3am and they will find out for themselves.

Oh, they'll get there.

Frankly, I can't believe we've gotten to over 1000 posts without somebody jumping on this thread and saying it's because Bush won't close the borders.

I had to go out for a few minutes; any word on a hostage in a trunk of a car?

Not on broadcasts. Hostage info was from scanner reports.

Yeah, this was no "running out the door, shooting behind you as go" deal.

He could have just taken the gun and ran.

Seems he needed the taste of blood.

"Exactly. After 25 years of working with people in depositions and courts, I'm sick of them all.

And let's face it, if I did get on a jury feeling the way I felt, who here who knows me doesn't think I couldn't have swayed the jury........LOL."

What makes you think you're opinion is less valid than any other potential juror? They're not supposed to be blank slates-- people bring their perspective and experiences with them. That's how our system works. As a fromer litigator, I wish we had MORE jurors like you who have honed their instincts through experience and can cut through the crap!

Has anyone heard if there was any truth to the possible hostage in the green car that was just located?

LOL! I hear ya! I'd be the one angry person on the jury who swayed the rest of them to vote Guilty! Hell, I talked the clothes off an insane suicidal convict once. I figure I can persuade fellow jurors to convict a criminal.

Inappropriate. Absolutely inappropriate. I will hit abuse on this in order to save you more embarrassment.

This is why Free Republic is the best! We police our own and do not tolerate outrageous comments. Something like this at DU would have gone unchallenged.

Apples and oranges, different story, like in the military... there is what has to get done out in the field, and what has to happen in garrison.

My sister is a nurse who has to manipulate heavy bodies. Fortunately, in a hospital setting, there is usually some more physically capable person (male nurse/orderly), whose JOB it is to assist (unlike a person in a crowd at an accident or crime scene), available when necessary.

Again, in this case, the guy looked like a typical strong, large cop (probably a former high school football player and weightlifter, etc.). He did NOT look particularly obese, as you say. That sounds like an excuse to me.

Blame it on the fat victim, and maybe take it a step further...

Blame it on McDonalds?

How on earth can one carry a gun into a courthouse???

Disturbing, it's it. Clearly, we're not as secure as we'd like to think.
